Responsibilities
- Safely operate tractor-trailers with manual transmission across regional and national routes, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Load, secure, and unload freight on flatbed, refrigerated trailer, tanker, dump truck, roll-off truck, or other specialized equipment as required
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with DOT standards
- Manage route driving efficiently to meet delivery schedules while optimizing fuel consumption and vehicle maintenance
- Handle freight with care, ensuring proper load securement and documentation during transit
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers regarding route updates, delivery statuses, and any issues encountered on the road
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, mileage, inspections, and deliveries in compliance with federal regulations
Requirements
- Valid CDL A license with a clean driving record
- Experience operating manual transmission trucks preferred but not mandatory; willingness to learn is valued
- Proven experience in truck driving, including route driving and freight delivery
- Ability to load & unload freight safely using equipment such as forklifts when necessary
- Familiarity with refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, roll-off trucks, or similar equipment is a plus
- Strong knowledge of safety procedures related to commercial driving and cargo handling
- Physical ability to handle loading/unloading tasks and long hours on the road
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating with dispatchers and customers
