Differential Pay for honorable military service: An additional $1.00 per hour(For example, a driver with prior sweeping driving experience and military service with an honorable discharge could start as high as $22 per hour.)
Average Weekly Hours: 40 - 45 hrs

Position Overview

If you have a Texas Commercial Drivers' License Class A or B, you can drive our sweeper. We are looking for individuals who want to work for a Christian company with Christian values. Because of these values and the fact that we are a 60-year-old company, we have plenty of work to go around.

Are you tired of being out on the road away from family? Then search no more. You get to sleep in your own bed every single day. Do you want to have Sundays off to be with your family, go to church, and rest? Well, we don't work from 6 pm Saturday to 6 pm Sunday, every single week of the year.

This is a low stress job, driving a street sweeper on local streets in the DFW Metroplex. Driving a sweeper means driving normally to get to the job, and then driving no faster than 10 mph while sweeping. What's more, we do more for the Environment than almost anyone. We remove pollutants, trash, dirt, debris from city streets, and keep those pollutants out of streams, rivers, lakes, and the environment

Position Purpose

The Night Shift CDL Driver supports Mister Sweeper contracts which are similar to work performed by Regular Drivers including servicing city streets, public parking lots, private roads, private parking areas, etc. However, CDL Drivers operate vehicles which have a heavier gross vehicle weight and require a Class A or B commercial driver’s license.

Qualifications

If you have a Texas Commercial Drivers' License Class A or B, you can drive our sweeper. We are looking for individuals who want to work for a Christian company with Christian values. Because of these values and the fact that we are a 58-year-old company, we have plenty of work to go around.

  • Must have Class A or B Commercial Driver’s license Must be 21 years of age at date of hire
  • High school education and/or minimum 5 years driving experience Must successfully pass MVR check
  • Must maintain clean driving record as required Must be insurable
  • Must pass DOT physical exam, Drug Test, Background Check, Pre-Employment Test (if applicable) and pass security screening as required
  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English or Spanish Must have basic math skills
  • Must pass driving skills assessment (field test with vehicle)
  • Must adhere to all City, State, and Company safety requirements
  • Must demonstrate good customer service/relations skills (professional but friendly) Must have good telephone skills and ability to communicate via cellular telephone Must be in good physical health with the ability to repeatedly lift 50+ lbs.
  • Must have an ability to prioritize varied tasks
  • Must have ability to work independently, with minimal supervision
  • Must be a team player (willing to assist other Supervisor and other drivers), demonstrate an ability to work with diverse employees, and demonstrate a high level of resourcefulness and flexibility
  • Must maintain composure in stressful situations
  • Must be able to safely carry and utilize a hand-held or backpack blower Prior experience preferred but not required

Duties and Responsibilities

Pre-Trip, Post-Trip, and Inspections

  • Conducts pre-trip and post-trip inspections of truck and equipment to ensure that it is in safe and reliable operating
  • Reports maintenance issues to supervisors to ensure prompt repairs to equipment maintain safe and reliable operation condition.
  • Drivers must check in with dispatch and obtain instructions for the day.

Environmental Service Operations

  • Operate specialized vehicles equipped with sweeper equipment and vacuums to effectively clear parking lots and/or streets of debris and trash.
  • Coordinate with other team members providing other clean-up service functions, e.g., sidewalks, stairwells, storefronts, curb stops, etc. as needed
  • Reline trash cans
  • Support other customer site cleaning and servicing operational activities, e.g., power-washing, junk patrol, etc.
  • Timely pick-up, loading, securing, and unloading of scheduled and unscheduled equipment, supplies and waste aboard assigned vehicle.
  • Safely carry and utilize a hand-held or backpack blower

Vehicle Operations

  • Operate and maintain assigned commercial vehicles in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Execute work orders similar to those performed by Regular Drivers, including servicing city streets, public parking lots, private roads, private parking areas, and more.
  • Navigate through diverse locations to fulfill service requirements based on customer needs. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of work orders and service activities.
  • Interact with customers, addressing their inquiries, concerns, and special requests with professionalism and courtesy.
  • Handle customer inquiries, address concerns, and communicate any relevant information to the appropriate parties.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by fostering positive relationships with clients on your route.

Safety and Compliance

  • Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies to minimize risks and ensure a safe work environment.
  • Utilize GPS and other navigation tools to optimize route efficiency. Count and/or otherwise verify equipment and supplies
  • Be responsible for maintaining and prompt submission of related electronic data and/or work order paperwork.
  • Driver is required to inspect equipment and supplies, note any damage, make necessary notifications, and properly secure all supplies for transit, as needed.
  • Drivers must check in on electronic tablet to view assignments and route instructions for the shift

Inclement Weather Operations - All work is on a voluntary basis and is paid at time and a half for all hours worked.

ICE MELT APPLICATION

  • Precise Application: Skillfully apply chemical ice melt to road surfaces by managing bags of chemicals or utilizing hoppers, ensuring effective distribution of loose pellets during freezing temperatures and precipitation.
  • Environmental Awareness: Monitor weather conditions to determine optimal times for ice melt application, prioritizing safety and minimizing environmental impact.
  • Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain equipment such as spreaders and hoppers, demonstrating proficiency in handling machinery to guarantee accurate and efficient ice melt distribution.

SNOW REMOVAL

  • Equipment Proficiency: Operate four-wheel drive vehicles, tractors, plows, and other relevant machinery to efficiently remove accumulated snow from road surfaces.
  • Route Planning: Strategically plan and execute snow removal routes, considering traffic patterns and weather conditions to ensure the timely and effective clearing of roadways.
  • Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance checks on snow removal equipment, promptly addressing any issues to guarantee optimal functionality during critical weather events.
  • Collaboration: Coordinate efforts with team members to synchronize snow removal activities, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment.
  • Operate bobcat or similar equipment to clear local ice/snow

SAND REMOVAL

  • Vacuum Operation: Utilize specialized trucks equipped with vacuum systems to efficiently remove loose sand from road and parking lot surfaces, promoting safe driving conditions.
