Full-Time Commercial Electrician
We’re seeking an experienced, licensed Commercial Journeyman Electrician with a minimum of 5 years of commercial field experience. Car wash facilities, controls and automation, and industrial environments are a plus.
In this role, you will lead the installation, programming, troubleshooting, and maintenance of complex automated commercial systems, heavy-duty three-phase services and panels, and specialty equipment. All work must strictly comply with the National Electrical Code, State Board of Electricians regulations, and OSHA regulations.
Core Responsibilities:
- Control & Automation Specialty: Install, program, and service equipment networks, including programmable logic controllers (PLCs), variable frequency drives (VFDs), photo-eyes, proximity sensors, and automated payment kiosks.
- Motor Controls & Pumps: Wire, test, and rebuild heavy-duty high-pressure pump motors, conveyor drive systems, water-reclaim filtration panels, and massive commercial blowers/dryers.
- Wet/Corrosive Environment Wiring: Expertly route, seal, and support PVC, PVC-coated rigid conduit (Robroy), and liquid-tight flexible conduit in highly corrosive, high-moisture locations.
- Conduit layouts and installation: Expertly layout per electrical drawings, conduit runs (Rigid, IMC, and EMT) and perform required conduit bends and offsets to provide complete and precise conduit runs.
- Electrical Drawings: Must demonstrate ability to read electrical drawings and build complete and operational electrical systems as shown on drawings, with minimal oversight.
- Power Distribution: Install and tie in heavy-duty 480V three-phase services, switchgear, distribution sub-panels, and step-down transformers.
- Advanced Troubleshooting: Use digital multimeters, megohmmeters, and diagnostic software to quickly isolate electrical shorts, ground faults, and signaling glitches caused by moisture ingress or equipment failures.
- On-Site Leadership: Direct, train, and manage registered apprentice electricians on-site, serving as the lead technical authority on complex commercial builds.
- Safety Rules: Enforce absolute adherence to OSHA guidelines, strict Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols for multi-source machinery, and NFPA 70E arc flash boundaries.
Position Requirements:
- Licensing: Hold an active, valid Journeyman Electrician License issued by the State Board of Electricians. Most be willing to obtain Journeyman electrical license in other states.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of documented commercial electrical experience. Candidates must show a proven track record of working on commercial facilities, industrial food processing plants, water treatment facilities, or governmental environments.
- Technical Skill: Advanced proficiency in reading complex industrial schematics, motor-control logic loops, and commercial facility blueprints.
- Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for long periods, and work in damp, noisy, or unconditioned environments. Must be comfortable operating at heights from scissor lifts and ladders.
- General: Valid driver’s license (Federal ID) with a clean driving record for mobile service dispatch across regional job sites. Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening.
- Overnight Travel: Occasional night work and overnight travel are required. Per diem (hotel – single occupancy and meals) and paid travel time is provided.
- Teamwork: Ability to function effectively as part of a team and work well with other trades on project sites.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience working directly as a Car Wash Field Service Technician or Industrial Plant Maintenance Electrician.
Certifications in specific car wash manufacturing systems (e.g., MacNeil, Sonny’s, Tommy Car Wash Systems).
OSHA 10 Hour certification or the ability to acquire within six months of hire date.
