The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Commercial Estimator to join our growing team. In this role, you will play a critical part in our commercial projects by accurately calculating costs, analyzing blueprints, and preparing comprehensive bids for large-scale athletic court installations.
A significant portion of this role involves deep expertise in dirt work and concrete, as these are foundational to our high-performance courts. Additionally, you will serve as a key representative of 365 Custom Courts, requiring you to present yourself professionally, build strong relationships with General Contractors (GCs), and actively source and secure commercial projects. Familiarity with local city permitting and regulations is also essential to ensure our projects remain compliant and on schedule.

Key Responsibilities
- Estimate Dirt Work & Concrete: Accurately analyze blueprints, specifications, and site conditions to prepare precise time, cost, and labor estimates specifically focused on dirt work, grading, and concrete foundations for athletic courts.
- Navigate Permitting & Regulations: Ensure all bids and project plans account for local city permitting requirements, zoning laws, and construction regulations across various municipalities in the DFW Metroplex.
- Prepare Comprehensive Bids: Develop competitive bids for commercial clients, including schools, parks, country clubs, and corporate facilities, ensuring all project requirements and constraints are accounted for.
- Build GC Relationships: Present yourself professionally and confidently to connect with General Contractors. Build and maintain strong relationships to position 365 Custom Courts as their preferred partner for athletic surfacing.
- Source Commercial Projects: Actively seek out and outsource new commercial project opportunities, expanding our footprint in the DFW market.
- Supplier Negotiation: Source and negotiate pricing with suppliers and subcontractors for premium materials, including ITF and PPA-certified acrylic coatings, concrete, and aggregates.
- Site Assessments: Conduct site visits as needed to assess project scope, evaluate dirt work requirements, and identify potential site challenges.
- Cost Tracking: Track and analyze project costs post-completion to refine estimating processes and improve profitability.
Requirements
- Experience: Minimum of 3+ years of proven experience as a Commercial Estimator in the construction industry, with mandatory experience in dirt work, grading, and concrete.
- Permitting Knowledge: Familiarity with city permitting processes, zoning laws, and commercial construction regulations within the DFW Metroplex.
- Professional Presentation: Must present exceptionally well and possess the interpersonal skills necessary to connect with, negotiate with, and build trust with General Contractors and commercial clients.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in reading and interpreting commercial blueprints, architectural drawings, and project specifications.
- Software Proficiency: Experience with estimating software, CRM systems, and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
- Analytical Skills: Strong mathematical and analytical skills with a meticulous attention to detail.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Organization: Ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with ASBA standards and athletic court construction is a significant plus.
