Sign Pro Billings is expanding our field operations team and looking for a skilled, hands-on installer and service technician with strong mechanical, fabrication, and equipment operation skills.

This role isn’t limited to “sign installation.” We’re looking for a well-rounded trades professional who enjoys variety in their day, working outdoors, solving problems on-site, and creating high-impact projects for businesses across Montana and beyond.
What You’ll Do
You’ll be responsible for installing, servicing, and maintaining commercial sign structures and related projects, including:
Installation, Fabrication & Field Work
- Weld steel and aluminum components (Certified Welder required)
- Operate equipment such as skid-steers, bucket trucks, boom lifts, scissor lifts, excavators, augers, and more
- Perform general carpentry, framing, drilling, anchoring, and structural preparation
- Build and set small concrete forms and pour pads/footings
- Assist with fabrication tasks in the shop when needed (cutting, grinding, drilling, assembly)
- Install a wide variety of commercial signage: channel letters, EMCs, cabinets, pole signs, monument signs, wayfinding, interior installations, etc.
Electrical & Lighting
- Install and service low-voltage LED lighting systems
- Run wiring, power supplies, transformers, and lighting components safely and cleanly
- Diagnose and repair electrical issues (low-voltage only)
Service, Repairs & Troubleshooting
- Perform on-site inspections and quality-control checks
- Diagnose structural, lighting, electrical, and installation issues
- Complete service calls efficiently and professionally
- Problem-solve in the field independently when plans change or challenges arise
Equipment & Site Management
- Maintain tools, trucks, and equipment
- Ensure safe job site setup, rigging, and teardown
- Follow OSHA safety protocols and Sign Pro safety standards
- Document work completed through photos and notes
What You Bring
We’re looking for someone with a mix of skill, grit, and professionalism:
Required Experience
- Certified welder (steel & aluminum)
- Hands-on equipment operation (skid-steer, lifts, booms, excavators, etc.)
- General carpentry and fabrication experience
- Experience reading drawings, measurements, and site plans
- Experience with concrete forms and basic foundations
- Understanding of low-voltage LED wiring and components
- Strong problem-solving ability in the field
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs, work outdoors, and work at heights (bucket trucks, ladders)
- Valid driver’s license (CDL is a plus)
Additional Experience
- Construction or general contracting background
- Mechanical or automotive experience
- Metal fabrication or machining
- Crane or rigging experience
- Sign installation experience (not required)
- OSHA 10/30 certification
- CDL or experience driving larger trucks
- Experience with architectural installations (awnings, canopies, structural steel)
- Blueprint reading and layout
- Concrete, masonry, or foundation work
- Welding certifications beyond basic requirements

Pay: $15.00 - $25.00 per hour
