Commercial HVAC Service Technician

Overview:
The Commercial HVAC Service Technician will perform a mix of routine maintenance, warranty service, and ad-hoc repairs on commercial HVAC systems, including troubleshooting and problem resolution. This position serves a range of commercial clients and may involve both scheduled maintenance and emergency service situations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain commercial HVAC equipment, including RTUs, split systems, and at times refrigeration units, following dispatch instructions and service requests.​
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and warranty service on HVAC systems, identifying issues before they escalate.​
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair system components such as compressors, motors, pumps, pneumatic and electric valves, ductwork, and controls.​
  • Test electrical circuits, thermostats, and system controls to ensure safe and proper operation.​
  • Clean and replace filters, coils, drain lines, and other components to maintain efficient system operation.​
  • Respond to ad-hoc and emergency service calls, providing professional, prompt customer service and clear communication regarding diagnosis and solutions.​
  • Maintain accurate service records, complete required paperwork, and ensure compliance with safety and company policies.​
  • Manage tools, equipment, and company vehicle to maintain safety and readiness for assignments.​
  • Ability to successfully complete a federal criminal background check following a conditional offer of employment.

Qualifications

  • Valid HVAC certification or licensure including EPA License. HVAC Journeyman License preferred.
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving ability for both preventative and emergency repairs.​
  • Professional communication skills and a commitment to safety and customer satisfaction.​
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Travel Requirements:

  • Regular travel within the local service area; occasional travel for emergency or specialized jobs.

Physical Requirements

  • This role requires the ability to regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds (and occasionally up to 75 pounds with assistance), work on ladders and rooftops, and access confined spaces such as attics, crawl spaces, and mechanical rooms. Technicians must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, and twist for extended periods, often in varying environmental conditions including extreme heat, cold, humidity, and outdoor weather. The position also demands good manual dexterity, hand‑eye coordination, and vision (with or without correction) for handling tools and reading gauges, along with sufficient physical stamina to complete full shifts, overtime, on‑call rotations, and emergency service calls as needed.

Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
