Commercial HVAC Service/Start-up Technician

Commercial HVAC Service/Start-up Technician: Focuses on troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining split systems, rooftop units (RTU’s), and VRV/VRF Equipment.

Common Responsibilities:

  • Diagnosing electrical, mechanical, and refrigerant issues in commercial systems.
  • Reading blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications.
  • Maintaining and repairing split systems, rooftop units (RTUs) and VRV/VRF Equipment.
  • Working with Variable Air Volume (VAV) systems, pneumatics, and Building Automation Systems (BAS).
  • Completing preventive maintenance checklists

Common Requirements:

  • Universal EPA Certification (required for handling refrigerants).
  • 2–5 years of experience with commercial systems.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Experience with 3-phase power and advanced electrical controls.
  • Registered with Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation as a technician
  • Some Traveling Required
  • Overtime

While performing the duties of this job, the employees will be in homes, schools, hospitals, office buildings, factories, and construction sites both indoors and outdoors, sometimes in extreme weather conditions. Work environments often involves tight or confined spaces, such as attics, crawl spaces, and basements. Frequent lifting of heavy equipment and materials. Technicians often need to climb ladders, bend, kneel, and crouch to access equipment. There is potential exposure to electrical systems, refrigerants, and other hazardous materials requiring the use of safety precautions and protective gear.
