Commercial Litigation Attorney - Contract Basis

United States

A growing litigation firm is seeking an experienced commercial litigation attorney to support its federal and state practice on an hourly basis. The role offers the opportunity to work on challenging, meaningful, and intellectually engaging matters that often raise complex legal issues. Our clients are primarily small businesses, so the focus is on delivering efficient, high-quality advocacy rather than chasing high billable hour quotas. Hours will vary depending on case activity and court deadlines. Based on performance and workload, this position may evolve into a full-time role if desired.

We are looking for attorneys who are reliable, accountable, and produce quality work without the need for constant follow-up. If you are not dependable in meeting deadlines or delivering polished work, please do not apply.

Responsibilities include:

  • Drafting complex litigation briefs, motions, and memoranda.
  • Communicating effectively with opposing counsel and court personnel.
  • Conducting advanced legal research and analysis.
  • Assisting with case management and strategic litigation planning.
  • Attending hearings
  • Taking and defending depositions

Requirements:

  • Prior litigation experience is required.
  • Strong legal writing and research skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines.
  • Professional communication skills in dealing with opposing counsel and clients.
  • Must be a member in good standing with The Florida Bar.

Details:

  • Hourly compensation, commensurate with experience.
  • Remote position with flexible hours based on workload.

Our culture: We maintain high standards while fostering a respectful, collaborative, and professional environment. We value attorneys who take ownership of their work and want to grow with the firm.

Qualified candidates are invited to submit their resume, writing samples, and availability for consideration.

Job Type: Contract

Application Question(s):

  • What hourly rate do you expect to be paid for your work (this refers to your compensation, not the firm’s client billing rate)?
  • Are you currently an active member in good standing with the Florida Bar?

Experience:

  • General & commercial litigation: 5 years (Preferred)

Work Location: Remote
