Job Overview
As a Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for identifying opportunities, managing key client relationships, and overseeing business development initiatives in the geotechnical engineering industry. This role requires a strategic thinker with deep industry knowledge, strong leadership skills, and a proven ability to deliver profitable projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement business strategies to expand market share in the geotechnical engineering sector.
- Identify the potential client opportunities in construction (piling, ground improvement, shoring and dewatering) and heavy machine rental & sales (crane, drilling rig, etc.).
- Manage bid preparation, proposal development, and contract negotiations for construction projects.
- Collaborate with engineering, project management and commercial teams to ensure alignment with business goals.
- Monitor industry trends, regulatory changes, and competitive landscapes to identify growth opportunities.
- Oversee budgets, financial planning, and performance metrics for business units.
- Build and maintain relationships with clients, contractors and suppliers.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Organize and promote industry events or trade shows to showcase company expertise and build relationships with client and potential client.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering, Business Administration, or related field (MBA or equivalent preferred).
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in business development or management within the civil/geotechnical engineering industry.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken);additional languages are a plus.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, project management, and industry-specific regulations.
- Exceptional negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Proven track record in securing contracts, managing bids, and delivering profitable projects.
- Ability to travel for client meetings and site visits as required.
