Position Summary
The Commercial Driver is responsible for safely operating company vehicles and actively participating in all aspects of commercial and residential moving projects. In addition to driving responsibilities, this role is a hands-on field position and is fully responsible for the physical execution of moves, including loading, unloading, packing, installation, and job site professionalism.
Commercial Drivers are expected to function as full members of the moving crew and are accountable for the quality, safety, and efficiency of each job, regardless of whether the project is commercial or residential.
Reporting Structure
Reports To: Operations Manager
Works Closely With: Crew Leaders, Operations, Warehouse, Dispatch, Account Managers, and Customers
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Driving & Transportation Responsibilities
Safely operate company vehicles in compliance with DOT, FMCSA, and Company policies.
Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report any issues immediately.
Ensure vehicles are properly loaded, secured, and unloaded.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned vehicles.
Move Execution & Labor Responsibilities
Perform all physical aspects of moving, including lifting, carrying, loading, unloading, packing, and unpacking.
Assist with disassembly and reassembly of furniture, fixtures, and equipment.
Support commercial furniture installation and placement as directed.
Follow job scopes, work orders, and crew leader instructions.
Customer Service & Professional Conduct
Interact professionally with customers at all times.
Protect customer property, facilities, and furnishings.
Communicate issues, damages, or concerns immediately to the Crew Leader.
Safety, Compliance & Accountability
Follow all safety policies and procedures.
Use proper lifting techniques and PPE.
Report incidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions immediately.
Administrative & Timesheet Responsibilities
Accurately complete daily timesheets.
Ensure time is recorded correctly to the appropriate job.
Assist with job documentation as required.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Valid driver’s license (CDL or non-CDL, as required for vehicle assignment).
Clean driving record in accordance with Company and insurance standards.
Ability to pass DOT physical and drug screening if applicable.
Ability to lift 100+ lbs. repeatedly.
