Commercial Multi-Family (CMF) Truss Designer

Stark Truss was founded in 1963 and is a leading manufacturer and supplier of wood components for the construction industry. With over 60 years of experience supplying large multi-family and commercial developments, single family track and custom homes, agricultural buildings. Our construction product line includes roof and floor trusses, wall panels, laminated veneer lumber (LVL), I-joists, pre-built stairs, Stark Lam beams and connector hardware.

Stark Truss Company, Inc. is seeking an experienced Commercial Multi-Family (CMF) Truss Designer to join our growing team. This position plays a key role in the layout and design of wood truss systems for large-scale commercial and multi-family projects across the U.S.

Schedule: Full-time (40-45 hours per week)

Pay Range: $28-$30 per hour, paid bi-weekly

Responsibilities

• Produces floor and roof truss placement plans, truss design drawings and truss quotes using your ability to understand blueprints and customer requirements for specific projects.
• Determine design specifications based on blueprints and structural design needs.
• Create shop paperwork that is optimized and batch for efficiency based on equipment used in manufacturing.
• Communicate with customer and sales staff on technical aspects of plans which require clarification from customer, Architect or Engineer. Document communication with said parties using excel spreadsheet and saved emails.
• Consult with more experienced component technicians and management when more in-depth analysis is required.
• Plan and pace your own work efficiency in order to meet daily, weekly, project, or team related productivity goals.

Software

Design work completed using Simpson design software (training available for experienced truss designers familiar with MiTek or similar platforms)

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of CMF truss order design experience preferred
• Strong understanding of wood truss systems and commercial/multi-family construction
• Ability to interpret structural drawings, framing plans, and specifications
• Detail-oriented, with strong organizational and communication skills
• Self-motivated, dependable, and able to manage workload independently in a remote setting
