Commercial Plumbing / HVAC Estimator

Position Overview:

George D. Boyer and Sons Inc., a mechanical contractor serving Central Pennsylvania for the past 65 years, is seeking to add a talented, experienced, and detail-oriented commercial Plumbing/HVAC Estimator to join our team. As an estimator, you will be responsible for accurately estimating costs and providing comprehensive project proposals for commercial plumbing and HVAC installations. Your expertise and meticulousness will be crucial in ensuring our projects are well-planned, cost-effective, and completed within budget. This role will work closely with the Project Management team to support successful project executions. Experience using Trimble Estimation software is a plus.

Key Responsibilities:

Cost Estimation: Analyze project plans, specifications, and blueprints to accurately estimate material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs for commercial plumbing and HVAC projects.

Proposal Development: Prepare detailed and competitive project proposals, including cost breakdowns, timelines, and technical specifications, to present to clients.

Project Planning: Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to understand project requirements and develop comprehensive installation plans for commercial construction projects.

Supplier and Subcontractor Coordination: Source and evaluate suppliers and subcontractors, negotiate pricing and contracts, and ensure timely delivery of materials and services.

Cost Optimization: Identify cost-saving opportunities and alternative solutions without compromising quality or safety standards.

Risk Assessment: Conduct thorough risk assessments to identify potential challenges and develop contingency plans to mitigate risks.

Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records or estimates, proposals, contracts, change orders, and other project related documents. Generate regular reports to track project progress and costs.

Industry Knowledge: Stay updated on industry trends, latest technologies, codes, regulations, and best practices to enhance estimating accuracy and efficiency. Prior field or project management experience in Plumbing or HVAC trades needed.
