The Sheet Metal Mechanic is responsible for the fabrication, assembly, installation, and repair of sheet metal products and equipment, including ducts, control boxes, drainpipes, and HVAC systems. This role requires proficiency in reading blueprints, using hand and power tools, and ensuring all work meets quality and safety standards.

Requirement:

  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine layout and installation procedures.
  • Fabricate, assemble, and install sheet metal products using various tools and machines such as shears, brakes, and welders.
  • Measure, cut, bend, and shape sheet metal to required specifications.
  • Install HVAC systems, ductwork, and other mechanical components in residential, commercial, or industrial settings.
  • Inspect and test completed systems and components for proper operation and compliance.
  • Repair or replace worn or damaged components as needed.
  • Operate tools and equipment safely and maintain them in good working condition.
  • Follow all company and OSHA safety guidelines and regulations.
  • Maintain accurate job records, timekeeping, and documentation.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical school training or apprenticeship preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience as a sheet metal mechanic or in a related trade.
  • Proficiency with sheet metal tools and machinery (brake presses, shears, welding equipment, etc.).
  • Ability to read blueprints and mechanical drawings.
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems and installation techniques (if applicable).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or in a team.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy materials and work in various positions, including standing, kneeling, and climbing.
