Qualifications Key Responsibilities

  • Create conceptual and engineered designs for commercial and industrial PV systems (rooftop, carport, and ground-mount).
  • Perform remote site assessments using aerial imagery, drone data, as-builts, and provided site measurements.
  • Use HelioScope to develop system layouts, stringing configurations, shading analysis, and production modeling.
  • Use Energy Toolbase to evaluate project economics, utility rate structures, incentive impacts, and customer savings.
  • Review utility interconnection requirements, metering configurations, available service capacity, and upgrade needs.
  • Prepare complete plan sets including layout drawings, SLDs, electrical details, and equipment schedules.
  • Generate accurate BOMs and provide technical inputs for sales proposals and project budgeting.
  • Ensure all designs meet NEC, local code amendments, and utility standards.
  • Collaborate with engineering, sales, and project management to ensure smooth handoffs and design clarity.

Required Qualifications

  • 2–5+ years of experience in commercial or industrial solar PV design.
  • Proficiency with HelioScope (required).
  • Experience with Energy Toolbase for financial modeling and rate analysis (required).
  • Strong understanding of NEC Articles 690 and 705.
  • Ability to create and interpret technical drawings using AutoCAD or similar CAD software.
  • Solid understanding of AC/DC electrical systems, equipment selection, and interconnection methods.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or related field.
  • Experience preparing commercial permitting and interconnection packages.
  • Knowledge of structural coordination and roof layout constraints.
  • NABCEP certification (PV Design Specialist or PV Installation Professional).
  • Familiarity with commercial utility rates, load profiles, and demand charges.
