Commercial Underwriter

Position Overview
Mission Financial Services is seeking a driven and detail-oriented Commercial Underwriter to join our growing team. This role is responsible for reviewing and analyzing credit applications for the purchase of commercial motor vehicles used in interstate commerce. Applications originate from dealerships nationwide, requiring strong judgment, consistency, and the confidence to make sound credit decisions.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, analytical, and decisive—someone who is comfortable standing behind their conclusions in a fast-paced commercial lending environment.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Review and analyze commercial credit applications for financing of commercial motor vehicles
• Evaluate applicant creditworthiness using financial statements, credit reports, bank statements, and supporting documentation
• Assess risk related to interstate commercial operations, collateral, and borrower profiles
• Make independent underwriting decisions in accordance with company policies and risk tolerance
• Communicate effectively with dealerships, brokers, and internal teams regarding underwriting decisions
• Ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance in all underwriting files
• Manage a steady pipeline of applications while meeting productivity and turnaround expectations

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in commercial underwriting, credit analysis, or commercial finance (motor vehicle or equipment finance preferred but not required)
• Degree in Finance, Business Administration or Accounting preferred but not required
• Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills
• Highly organized with excellent attention to detail
• Confident decision-maker with the ability to stand firm on credit determinations
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Pay: $60,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
