Commi Chef

Job Summary: The Commis is responsible for assisting in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of food. This entry-level position offers opportunities to learn and develop culinary skills while supporting senior kitchen staff in maintaining high standards of food quality, hygiene, and cleanliness.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in food preparation and cooking under the supervision of a Chef de Partie.
• Follow instructions from senior chefs to ensure the consistent quality and presentation of dishes.
• Prepare and organize ingredients, including chopping, marinating, and portioning.
• Ensure that the kitchen is kept clean and organized at all times, including proper storage of ingredients and equipment.
• Maintain food safety and hygiene standards in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.
• Assist with inventory management and stock rotation.
• Help in the setup and breakdown of kitchen stations.
• Follow recipes and presentation guidelines as set by the chef.
• Assist in the preparation of mise en place for each shift.
• Be proactive in maintaining kitchen cleanliness, including washing dishes and keeping workstations tidy.
• Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations.
• Support the team in other kitchen-related tasks as required.

• Basic knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
• Ability to work efficiently and maintain focus in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
• A passion for cooking and willingness to learn new skills.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to work in a hot, fast-paced environment.

Working Conditions:

• Shifts may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Work environment is typically in a kitchen, which may be noisy and fast-paced.
