Commis I - Continental Cuisine

DJob Summary

The Commis I – Continental Cuisine is responsible for assisting in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of continental dishes while maintaining high standards of food quality, hygiene, and kitchen efficiency. The role supports senior chefs in daily kitchen operations and ensures consistency with established recipes and standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook continental dishes according to standard recipes and instructions from senior chefs
  • Assist in mise en place and ensure all ingredients are prepared and stored correctly
  • Maintain high standards of food quality, taste, and presentation
  • Follow food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards at all times
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
  • Assist in stock handling, storage, and minimizing food wastage
  • Support Chef de Partie and Sous Chef during service periods
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work station
  • Adhere to hotel/restaurant policies, SOPs, and safety guidelines
  • Assist in training junior kitchen staff when required

Skills & Competencies

  • Good knowledge of continental cuisine techniques and ingredients
  • Basic knife skills and cooking methods (grilling, sautéing, baking, etc.)
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Strong attention to detail and presentation
  • Team player with a positive attitude
  • Good time management and multitasking skills

Qualifications

  • Diploma or certification in Culinary Arts or equivalent
  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience in continental cuisine as Commis II or equivalent
  • Knowledge of food safety standards (HACCP preferred)

Working Conditions

  • Flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays
  • Standing for long hours in a hot kitchen environment

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: AED1,800.00 - AED2,200.00 per month
