Job Summary:
We are seeking dedicated Commis I team members to support our hot and cold kitchen sections. The successful candidates will help prepare, cook, and present a variety of savory dishes and kitchen mise en place, while maintaining high standards of quality, cleanliness, and food safety. This role provides an excellent opportunity to develop foundational culinary skills in a professional kitchen environment under the guidance of experienced chefs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist chefs in the preparation, cooking, and finishing of hot and cold dishes for various meal periods.
- Prepare ingredients, including chopping, marinating, and portioning according to established recipes.
- Help maintain stocks, sauces, and other kitchen basics under supervision.
- Support the setup and organization of workstations in the hot and cold kitchen sections.
- Keep work areas clean, sanitized, and organized in compliance with food safety regulations.
- Monitor kitchen inventory, rotate stock appropriately, and notify seniors of low supplies or equipment issues.
- Support other kitchen sections during peak service times to ensure smooth operation.
- Uphold consistency by following recipes and plating guidelines for all dishes.
- Occasionally assist in receiving and storing deliveries as required.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; culinary training or certification is a plus.
- At least 1–2 years of experience in a professional kitchen, preferably within a hotel or restaurant.
- Basic knowledge of food preparation, cooking methods, and kitchen operations.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to follow instructions and recipes accurately.
- Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-temperature kitchen environment.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask.
- Good teamwork and communication skills.
- Physically able to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in warm conditions.
- Flexible availability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
