Job Summary: We are seeking a Commodities Sales Coordinator to join our team in the Denver area. The ideal candidate will own the day-to-day pricing, quoting, and order management activity for our commodity manufacturer lines — primarily Southwire wire and cable, along with other high-velocity, market-priced product categories. This role thrives on daily price movement, fast turnarounds, and tight coordination between distributors, contractors, our outside sales team, and the manufacturer.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree is a plus
- Proven experience in inside sales, sales coordination, or customer service — commodity, wire & cable, or distribution background strongly preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to manage rapid back-and-forth with distributors, contractors, and manufacturer teams
- Proficiency in CRM software, manufacturer quoting and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel-heavy)
- Comfort working with daily commodity price movement (copper / COMEX) and translating that into quoting urgency
- Strong sense of urgency — ability to prioritize when the market is moving and quotes have short fuses
- Ability to work independently and as part of a tight-knit commodity team
- Knowledge of electrical distribution channels, contractor workflows, and project-based selling
- Technical aptitude for reading specs, bills of material (BOMs), and wire/cable schedules to build accurate quotes
- Analytical skills to extract relevant SKUs, lengths, and put-ups from project documentation
Responsibilities:
- Own the full pricing & quoting workflow for Southwire and other commodity manufacturer lines — this is the bulk of the day
- Process Project Pricing Requests (PPRs): take specs and BOMs from contractors and distributors, build the quote in Southwire’s system (and other manufacturer portals), and manage the back-and-forth until the quote is locked
- Drive quote follow-ups — know which quotes are aging, which need to be tightened against a moving market, and when to push contractors to commit before a price change
- Maintain daily awareness of copper / COMEX movement and other commodity indicators; flag at-risk quotes proactively to outside sales and the customer
- Process incoming orders, validate against quoted pricing and contracts, and submit cleanly to the manufacturer
- Track open orders end-to-end — acknowledgments, ship dates, freight, releases on blanket orders — and follow up until the customer has the product in hand
- Manage project-level coordination across multiple releases, partial shipments, and contract draws
- Set up, renew, and track wire contracts and SPAs (annual, project-specific, and blanket); maintain accurate contract records and ensure pricing is honored at the distributor level
- Pull and analyze POS and sales data; build reporting that highlights trends, gaps, and opportunities for the commodity team and management
- Serve as a Customer / Tech Service touchpoint — product availability, substitutions, certs, COCs, and basic technical questions on wire, cable, and related commodity SKUs
- Maintain and update the customer database and quote log in CRM software
- Collaborate daily with the commodity team, outside sales, and management to hit and exceed line targets
- Stay current on Southwire (and other commodity principal) product launches, program changes, and pricing updates
- Communicate clearly and effectively in both verbal conversations and written correspondence (emails, quotes, contracts, order acknowledgments)
- Handle customer concerns and issue resolution professionally — mis-ships, billing discrepancies, freight claims, and contract pricing disputes
- Serve as the internal advocate and liaison for assigned commodity manufacturers; partner with their inside teams, sales managers, and contract desks to drive results
- Participate in manufacturer training, promotional campaigns (e.g., Southwire Blitzes), and joint distributor / contractor activity
- Monitor manufacturer performance, market positioning, and competitive pricing pressure; report findings up the chain
Additional Requirements:
- Comfort thriving in a fast-paced, market-driven environment where quotes and prices can shift the same day
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Willingness to learn manufacturer systems, contract structures, and new technologies/processes
- Comfortable making outbound calls to chase quotes, follow up on orders, and push contractors toward commitment
- Strong work ethic and self-motivation — the inbox does not slow down
- Ability to multitask between active quoting, order tracking, contract management, and manufacturer coordination
- Strong problem-solving skills for resolving pricing discrepancies, expediting orders, and translating contractor needs into clean, quotable BOMs
- Comfort working with modern AI tools to streamline daily workflows and build efficiencies into quoting, order tracking, and reporting; willingness to actively help shape internal AI systems and models to support the future needs of the commodity team and the broader business.
If you are a detail-oriented, urgency-driven professional who enjoys the pace of commodity sales — daily pricing, tight quote cycles, and active coordination with manufacturer teams — we encourage you to apply for this position.
