Job Summary:

This position is responsible to implement a commodity procurement and inventory strategy that supports the company’s manufacturing supply chain. The individual must be a strategic, forward-thinking leader responsible for managing external partnerships that complement or enhance the existing product portfolio. This includes source identification, supplier development, and assimilation to the company’s supply chain.

What you will do:

Lead source identification and supplier development activities, with a focus on machine shop sourcing.

Apply advanced purchasing skills to balance supplier capacity with working capital and inventory turnover goals.

Collaborate cross-functionally with quality, sales, planning, operations, and engineering teams to align commodity strategy with business objectives.

Reduce complex supply chain processes into simplified, actionable strategies through continuous improvement initiatives.

Negotiate and draft purchasing agreements that promote collaborative supplier partnerships.

Analyze and anticipate market trends to develop effective commodity strategies, incorporating economic and industry forecasts.

Understand cost drivers and leverage should-cost modeling and cost breakdown templates to manage pricing and identify cost savings opportunities.

Proactively monitor and manage supplier performance to meet business objectives.

Lead quoting, source selection for product development projects. Participates in the make / buy / where team.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Operations Management, Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field required.

Minimum of 4 years of experience in manufacturing or aerospace.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and MRP systems required.

APICS certification and Lean Manufacturing experience preferred.

ITAR/DFAR compliance, and serialization/lot tracking requirements is preferred.

Strong understanding of inventory management principles including working capital and inventory turn metrics.

Excellent planning, project management, and interpersonal skills.

Physical Requirements:

Hearing: Adequate to perform job duties in person, over the telephone and in office setting.

Speaking: Must be able to communicate clearly in person, over the telephone, to a broad audience and on the production floor.

Vision: Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including ability to work on a computer screen for long periods of time.

Other: May require lifting and carrying items weighing up to 20 pounds unassisted, including assisting co-workers when required.
