HOW YOU CAN MAKE AN IMPACT
As a System Engineer CBTC (Signaling), you will be responsible for the design, development, and integration of our advanced rail signaling systems, including CBTC (Communications-Based Train Control) and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) technologies. Your primary focus will be to ensure that our signaling systems meet the highest standards of safety, reliability, and performance, while also satisfying customer requirements and industry regulations. Your expertise in systems engineering, coupled with your understanding of rail signaling technologies such as Automatic Train Supervision (ATS) or Data Communication Subsystem (DCS), will be essential in delivering world-class solutions that drive the future of rail transportation.
Key Activities
- Develop system requirements, specifications, and architectures, ensuring that they meet customer needs, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware, software, and integration engineers, to ensure that system components are designed and developed according to the overall system architecture and requirements.
- Develop and execute system integration and testing strategies, ensuring that all system components work together seamlessly and meet the required performance and safety criteria.
- Manage Hardware and Software system interfaces, both internal and external, ensuring that the signaling system integrates effectively with other subsystems, such as rolling stock, wayside equipment, and control centers.
- Participate in design reviews, safety assessments, and quality assurance activities, providing systems engineering expertise and guidance.
- Identify and manage system-level risks, developing mitigation strategies and contingency plans to ensure project success.
- Stay current with emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in systems engineering and rail signaling, and apply them to advance Stadler US's signaling solutions
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, with a focus on rail signaling systems.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in systems engineering
- Good understanding of systems engineering principles, processes, and tools, including requirements management, architecture design, and system verification and validation.
- Core knowledge of rail signaling technologies, particularly CBTC,SCADA, ATS and DCS systems, and their application in various project scenarios.
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety requirements, such as CENELEC (EN 50126, EN 50128, EN 50129) and IEEE standards.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and systematically about complex system challenges.
- Basic project management and leadership skills, with the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams and deliver projects on time and within budget.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with customers, partners, and internal stakeholders.
- Fluent in English, German is a plus
