SUMMARY
Under basic supervision, performs administrative and technical work in the developing, coordinating, and executing communications that effectively engage and inform students, families, staff, community members, and media representatives.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following :
- Perform a variety of administrative and technical communication functions, including content creation and management, digital platform oversight, media relations, school and community engagement, and support for crisis and emergency communications.
- Write, edit, and publish district communications, including newsletters, website content, social media content, news releases, and similar communications.
- Manage and update the district website and social media accounts;monitor engagement analytics and recommend strategies to improve reach, effectiveness, and community engagement.
- Draft news releases and respond to routine media inquiries; coordinate interviews and prepare background materials and talking points for district leadership.
- Monitor media coverage and social media activity; prepare summaries for district leadership.
- Collaborate with administrators and staff to identify, develop, and promote stories highlighting student achievement, staff recognition programs, events, and district initiatives.
- Assist in developing and implementing communication plans and campaigns to support special events and district priorities.
- Support and help coordinate communications for district events, including community forums, celebrations, board meetings, and other public functions.
- Assist with urgent and emergency communications, including preparation and dissemination of messaging as directed.
- Help maintain accuracy,consistency, branding standards, and accessibility compliance across all district communications.
- Manage special projects and other related duties as assigned.
- Supports positive relationships between the Minot Public School District and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with students, families, staff, media, and the public. The position requires maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information and adhering to mandated reporting requirements and other applicable laws and district policies.
Associate’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field; AND two years of communications or administrative support experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience.
- Principles and practices of public relations, public information, and community engagement.
- Organizational structure, operations, policies, and procedures of the district.
- Digital communication strategies, including social media platforms and website content management systems.
- Applicable federal and state laws and regulations related to public education, student privacy, and public records.
- Modern office practices, procedures, and equipment.
Skill in:
- Communicating effectively, including listening, oral, written, and other forms of communication.
- Writing and editing clear, accurate, and engaging communications under deadline.
- Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Collaboration and effective interpersonal interaction.
- Proficiency with digital platforms and communication tools.
- Graphic design and photography.
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Valid North Dakota Driver’s License (or ability to obtain prior to hire).
