Communications & Community Engagement Manager

Job Overview

Under the general direction of the Bright Futures Educational Partnership Director, the Communications and Community Engagement Manager leads and coordinates community engagement, communications, and convenings that support all Bright Futures initiatives.

This role positions community engagement as the foundation of effective communications, ensuring that Bright Futures’ initiatives, outcomes, and shared goals are shaped by community voice and clearly communicated across partners and the broader public. Serving as the central lead for communications and engagement, the Manager translates on-the-ground relationships, conversations, and insights into consistent, accessible messaging that advances collective impact.

The Communications and Community Engagement Manager leads the coordination of high-quality, community-centered meetings and events, ensuring they are accessible, inclusive, and reflective of community voice. This role delivers strategic communications that elevate impact, strengthen alignment, and increase visibility across the Bright Futures partnership, while actively supporting and advancing work within the community.

This role also centers communication as a key driver of collective impact by overseeing the Bright Futures website and social media platforms, ensuring messaging is consistent, engaging, and accessible. The Manager brings creativity and strategic thinking to develop content that highlights the powerful work happening across the community and amplifies the voices of partners and families.

In addition, the role provides high-level administrative and logistical support to the Director, ensuring cohesion, efficiency, and forward momentum across all Bright Futures initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Communications & Community Engagement

  • Lead and coordinate Bright Future's communications and community engagement efforts across all initiatives, ensuring alignment with strategy, messaging, and community priorities.
  • Serve as a liaison between Bright Futures and community partners, including schools, districts, nonprofits, higher education, local government, and residents, facilitating strong, two-way communication.
  • Build and sustain relationships that elevate partner voices, strengthen collaboration, and support shared ownership of Bright Futures work.
  • Translate community input, partner feedback, and convening outcomes into clear, compelling communications that reflect lived experience and collective progress.
  • Develop and manage content across platforms, including the Bright Futures website, social media, newsletters, and email communications.
  • Plan, write, and edit materials that effectively communicate goals, activities, progress, and impact to diverse auidiences.
  • Ensure all communications are accurate, accessible, culturally responsive, and consistent in voice and messaging.
  • Capture and share stories, testimonials, and examples of impact from community members, partners, and events.
  • Create basic visual materials and presentations.
  • Review and refine content produced by partners and team members to ensure alignment with Bright Futures's messaging and equity-centered approach.

Meeting & Event Planning

  • Manage and coordinate a high volume of meetings and convenings that support Bright Futures initiatives, including working groups, partner convenings, and large community events.
  • Design meetings and events to both advantage initiative goals and intentionally gather community input that informs communication and strategy.
  • Manage shared calendars and coordinate logistics across initiatives and partner groups.
  • Oversee all event details, including venue selection, food and beverage, audio-visual needs, invitations, registration, attendee coordination, and post-meeting follow-up.
  • Coordinate and oversee contracted services with event-related vendors.
  • Provide on-site meeting support, including set-up, facilitation support, audio-visual coordination, and wrap-up.

Contact Management & Engagement Tracking

  • Establish and maintain a comprehensive contact management database, including partner profiles, interests, and engagment histories.
  • Document insights, themes, and feedback from meetings and convenings to inform communications and engagement strategies.
  • Segment contact list to tailor outreach and messaging for specific audiences and initiatives.
  • Coordinate data sharing and syncing with partner organizations when appropriate.
  • Evaluate and recommend best practices and tools for contact management and engagement tracking.
  • Manage Bright Futures website on WIX

Interpreter and Translator Services

  • Provide real-time Spanish-language interpretation during meetings and facilitate bilingual or Spanish-language discussions as needed, and/or coordinate interpretation services.
  • Translate written materials from English to Spanish with grammatical accuracy and cultural competence, including website content, outreach materials, and email communications, and/or coordinate translation services. Bilingual (English/Spanish) and Biliterate(English/Spanish) required.

Administrative & Operationa Support

  • Support with executive administrative support to the Bright Futures Director and team members
  • Prepare meetings agendas, materials, and minutes; maintain records for Bright Futures initiatives and partnerships.
  • Schedule meetings and support coordination across initiatives and partners.
  • Develop Powerpoint presentations and materials to support convenings and communications.
  • Serve as a point person for program administration, including purchasing, budgets, and service requests.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in education, public administration, social sciences, or relate field( or equivalent work experience).
  • Minimum 3-5 years of project coordination or program management experience, preferably in education, youth development, or nonprofit sectors.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-builiding skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, WIX, project management tools.

Position Details

  • Location: Salinas, CA (in-person work required)
  • Employment Type: Full-time, Exempt, Non-managerial
  • Salary Range: $78,000-$92, 000 annually, commensurate with experience
  • Benefits: Health, Dental and Vision, and Life Insurance. 401(K) contribution and paid time off plan.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Office environment with standard equipment tasks. Position requires working at a computer and a desk for extended periods. May require occasional lifting or moving of materials up to 30 pounds. Travel is required for annual conferences approximately three to four times each year.

Pay: $78,000.00 - $92,000.00 per year
