Wespath, recognized as a 2017-2025 Chicago’s Best and Brightest Companies to Work For® and a 2018-2025 National Best and Brightest Companies to Work For®, has an opportunity for a Communications Content Manager that support the Health Benefits and Church Relations clients and serve as a communication liaison for Customer Service and Plan Sponsor Relations. This individual will develop and implement communication strategies and tactical work plans for these internal clients, managing content creation from concept to execution. They will adhere to timelines and project schedules, partner with design and production staff, on creative needs and obtain internal approvals as appropriate. As communication liaison for Customer Service and Plan Sponsor Relations, they will serve as the primary contact for the Managing Director of Plan Sponsor Relations and Managing Director of Customer Service, providing guidance and insight into communications as well as providing valuable context back to the Communications department relative to plan sponsor needs.
More specifically, as a Communications Content Manager you will have the following key responsibilities:
- Storytelling and Content Creation: With a mindset of curiosity, and with guidance from communication managers and internal clients, develop and share stories that help advance the client’s business objectives and support the organization. Write, edit and proofread content that includes articles, newsletters, press releases, brochures, emails, letters, web copy, video scripts, social media copy and other collateral for client department projects and organizational projects.
- Communication Strategy: Using a combination of engagement statistics, survey feedback and participant testimonies, plan, develop, coordinate and maintain quarterly client department communication strategy and work plan documentation.
- Project Management: Manage and support projects as delegated and directed by the Communications Manager and/or Managing Director. Leverage the department’s project/production management platform (Monday.com) to manage all communication aspects of the project. Manage client communication process and project elements, including the internal review process, receiving copy and design approvals to move into and through production.
- Meeting and Event Content: Provide strategic and tactical support as assigned for external agency events (conferences, webinars, etc.), whether in person, hybrid or virtual. Includes development of relevant content and materials.
- Web and Social Content Support: Partner with the web manager and social media manager to leverage these vehicles as part of a comprehensive audience engagement communications strategies.
- General Communication Department Support: Provide peer review (editing and proofreading) for Communication department project materials.

The compensation range for this position is $93,000 - $115,000 with a bonus opportunity and customary benefits. Final compensation will be set based on the hired applicant’s qualifications (education, training, and/or experience related to this role), and as such, may fall outside the range shown.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, English or equivalent work experience.
- 7 years as a communication professional in a corporate or similar environment. Experience creating content for benefits, pension or financial communications a plus.
- Ability to articulate the communications “process” from concept through production.
- Proven experience producing high quality, integrated communications from concept through production, including experience writing for print and video, the web, social media and other digital media.
- Excellent project management skills, including the ability to create and maintain ongoing project schedules and deliver to established deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Communication Planning: Experience developing, executing and measuring the effectiveness of communication plans that engage key audiences. Experience partnering with clients to understand business and communication needs, including the ability to listen for understanding, and provide guidance and articulate communication ideas effectively. High attention to detail and well-organized in all planning aspects.
- Project Management: Proficient in creating and managing work plans to organize projects into tasks, sequencing activities for maximum efficiency, estimating and managing time to complete tasks. Identifies and raise issues to management/client in order to adapt plans as needed while remaining committed to project deadlines and timelines. Able to handle several projects under tight and specified timeframes.
- Interpersonal: Interacts and communicates effectively with immediate manager and department peers. Works effectively with designated clients and different personalities across the organization. Provides ongoing project status reports, personal workload status reports and seeks out information that helps inform project work and associated content. Able to cooperate, collaborate and communicate well with others.
- Problem Solving: Problem-solving capabilities, including the ability to help identify root causes and key obstacles behind issues or needs. Able to consider audience needs and expectations and offer effective communication solutions, particularly when communicating potentially sensitive issues. Act in a consultative manner, offering solutions at the outset of a project or strategy session.
