JOB SUMMARY
The Communications Dispatcher serves as the central point of contact for the NCH – Naples Comprehensive Health’s Emergency Operations Department. This role is responsible for coordinating the dispatch of public safety officers, monitoring security systems, and facilitating communication during emergency and non-emergency situations to ensure the safety and security of all NCH campuses.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Emergency & Routine Dispatch Operations
- Dispatch public safety officers for routine patrols, service calls, and emergency responses across all NCH campuses.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all public safety-related communications within the healthcare system.
- Coordinate with external emergency responders and monitor outbound 911 calls to validate incidents and ensure an appropriate response.
- Initiate and manage partial or full facility lockdowns in response to security threats or emergencies.
Monitoring & Security Systems
- Monitor and respond to alarms, access control systems, and CCTV surveillance to ensure real-time situational awareness.
- Oversee and support remote vendor and visitor management systems to ensure compliance with access protocols.
- Perform routine system checks and report technical issues related to dispatch, surveillance, and communication platforms.
Incident Documentation & Communication
- Accurately document all calls for service, officer activity, and incident details using the dispatch and reporting systems.
- Issue timely emergency notifications through the NCH Emergency Notification Network to staff and leadership.
- Maintain records of deceased patients and coordinate with legally authorized entities for the release of remains.
- Maintain updated contact lists for internal departments and external emergency services.
Operational Support & Compliance
- Support shift transitions by briefing incoming dispatchers on ongoing incidents and system statuses.
- Participate in training exercises, emergency drills, and ongoing education related to emergency response and communication protocols.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies in all communications and documentation.
- Provide professional, courteous assistance to staff, patients, and visitors, including de-escalating tense or emotional situations when necessary.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of High School or GED required.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in related field preferred.
- Excellent verbal communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to remain calm and accurate under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong sense of discretion and confidentiality.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, security software, and web-based applications.
- Typing speed of at least 25 WPM.
- Customer service-oriented with professional phone and radio etiquette.
