Are you passionate about effective communication and eager to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic environment? The Texas Pediatric Society (TPS) is seeking a motivated Communications Intern for the Spring 2026 semester (January-May) to assist with advancing our communications strategy. In this role, you will play a vital role in supporting our internal and external communication efforts. This paid internship offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in content creation, media outreach, and brand messaging while contributing to making a difference in children’s health.

The Texas Pediatric Society (TPS), the Texas Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, is the premier state professional nonprofit organization of over 4,800 Texas pediatricians, physician pediatric subspecialists, and medical students. TPS believes that the most important resource of the State of Texas is its children and pledges its efforts to promote their health and welfare.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the development and implementation of marketing and communications strategies that align with organizational goals and target audiences;
  • Contribute to weekly and monthly editorial communications calendar to promote TPS and children’s health initiatives;
  • Create, edit, and proofread content for TPS’ newsletter, website, and social media channels, including Facebook, Instagram, X (Twitter), and LinkedIn, that aligns with TPS’ brand standards;
  • Support the management of social media platforms by scheduling posts, monitoring engagement, and analyzing performance metrics;
  • Participate in team meetings to brainstorm new ideas for campaigns and outreach initiatives;
  • Track and report on the effectiveness of communication activities to measure impact and identify areas for improvement;
  • Perform administrative tasks related to communication projects, such as organizing files, maintaining databases, and scheduling interviews or posts; and
  • Participate in special projects to advance TPS’ marketing and communications activities.

Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a hybrid work environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail.
  • Experience with social media management and content creation.
  • Familiarity with Google Analytics and social media analytics a plus.
  • Familiarity with graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud Suite) a plus.
  • Interest in children’s health, non-profits, or associations is preferred.
