Communications Intern (Flexible Hours)

Location: Remote/Hybrid (Flexible based on campaign needs)
Time Commitment: Minimum 10 hours/week | Flexible Scheduling
Compensation: Volunteer internship offering hands-on experience, skill development, and a strong reference letter upon successful completion. If needed, we can center the internship to fit the needs of Academic Credit!

Overview:

We’re seeking a creative and detail-oriented Communications Intern to support our campaign’s public messaging, media outreach, and digital engagement. This is a unique opportunity to shape the voice of a grassroots campaign in a competitive primary race against an incumbent. If you're passionate about storytelling, digital strategy, and progressive change, this internship will give you the tools and experience to thrive in political communications.

Duties:

As a Communications Intern, your responsibilities may include:

  • Drafting social media content, newsletters, and email updates.
  • Assisting with press releases, op-eds, and public statements.
  • Designing campaign graphics or assisting with visual content (if skilled in Canva, Adobe, etc.).
  • Monitoring media coverage and helping track public responses.
  • Supporting digital engagement strategies across platforms like Instagram, Facebook, Twitter/X, and Tiktok.
  • Helping maintain a consistent, values-driven tone across all campaign communications.

Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong writing and editing skills.
  • Creativity and a passion for storytelling.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and digital communication tools.
  • Interest in politics, advocacy, or strategic messaging.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively under tight timelines.
  • Experience with graphic design or video editing is a plus, but not required.
