Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid is offering a paid, semester-long internship with our Communications team.

Role Overview

Gain hands-on experience as a digital and social media intern:

  • Create and write social media content
  • Gather visual assets (photos, video clips)
  • Caption video clips for accessibility and translation
  • Design graphics using Canva
  • Post content on social media platforms
  • Maintain the Social Media Calendar
  • Summarize analytics
  • Upload videos to YouTube and website
  • Engage with and monitor comments
  • Draft and follow SOPs
  • Use Microsoft 365 tools

Primary Duties

  • Post day-to-day social media content
  • Gather visual assets (photos and video)
  • Produce and edit video clips with captions
  • Ensure accessibility (alt text, translated content)
  • Maintain social media calendar
  • Monitor comments

Additional Duties (as time allows):

  • Summarize analytics
  • Post to website and upload video content
  • Assist with webinars

Required Qualifications

  • Undergraduate, recent graduate, or graduate student
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently
  • Strong social awareness and understanding of our justice mission
  • Commitment to applying MMLA’s Racial Justice Values Statement

Preferred Qualifications

  • Diverse social, economic, and cultural experiences
  • Second language skills: Spanish, Somali, Hmong, ASL
  • Experience in social, legal justice, or news organizations
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with video editing and Canva
  • Knowledge of SEO and Google Analytics

Work Modality

Hybrid position: 2 days in-office, with fieldwork for content gathering

Compensation

  • $23/hour
  • 20 hours/week, Monday–Thursday
  • Duration: 89 days
