St. Peter’s United Methodist Church in Katy is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Communications Intern to join our team. This paid internship offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in communications, media relations, digital strategy, and content creation. The ideal candidate is eager to develop their skills in a professional ministry setting, contribute to impactful projects, and learn strategic communication practices. This role is perfect for students or recent graduates pursuing a career in communications, marketing, journalism, or a related field.
Responsibilities
- Assist in creating and editing social media posts, website content, and other communication materials
- Update the church website weekly with new events, ministry highlights, and fresh content
- Support the management of social media platforms by scheduling posts and engaging with followers
- Attend team meetings to contribute ideas and updates on ongoing projects
- Support event planning and logistics for St. Peter’s outreach activities
- Capture photos and videos at church events as needed (photography skills are a plus!)
- Perform administrative tasks as needed to support the communications team
Experience & Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in or recent graduate of a degree program in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field
- Previous experience in social media or digital marketing is required
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a huge attention to detail
- Familiarity with social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.)
- Proficiency in Canva
- Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud programs such as Lightroom and InDesign
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Basic understanding of content management systems
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
- Creative mindset with a passion for storytelling and digital media
- Must provide examples of past work (portfolio, Instagram page, TikTok page, or email samples).
This internship provides valuable experience in strategic communications within a dynamic church environment. Candidates should demonstrate enthusiasm for learning, initiative in project ownership, and a proactive attitude toward strengthening the church’s communication efforts.
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
