Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Communications Lead to elevate our organization’s messaging, foster positive media relationships, and engage diverse audiences through compelling storytelling. As a Communications Lead, you will serve as the voice of our organization, ensuring consistent, accurate, and engaging messaging across all channels. Your expertise in media relations, public relations, social media management, and writing will drive our reputation forward and support our strategic goals.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive communication strategies that align with organizational objectives and enhance public perception.
- Craft, edit, and proofread press releases, speeches, articles, and digital content adhering to AP style guidelines to ensure clarity and professionalism.
- Manage media relations by building strong partnerships with journalists, bloggers, and influencers to secure positive coverage and respond effectively to media inquiries.
- Oversee social media platforms by creating engaging content, monitoring engagement metrics, and implementing campaigns that increase visibility and community interaction.
- Coordinate public speaking engagements for leadership team members to effectively communicate key messages to diverse audiences.
- Conduct research on industry trends, audience preferences, and competitive landscape to inform communication strategies.
- Collaborate with marketing, public relations, and other departments to ensure consistent messaging across all channels.
- Monitor media coverage and prepare reports on communication effectiveness; adjust strategies as needed for optimal impact.
Experience
- Proven experience in public relations, journalism, or corporate communications with a strong portfolio of published work.
- Demonstrated ability to develop compelling content including press releases, speeches, social media posts, and articles.
- Excellent research skills to gather relevant information quickly and accurately for various projects.
- Strong editing skills with meticulous attention to detail; proficiency in AP style is essential.
- Experience managing media relations—building relationships with journalists and handling press inquiries professionally.
- Skilled in public speaking with the confidence to represent the organization at events or interviews.
- Familiarity with social media management tools and analytics platforms to measure campaign success.
- Exceptional communication skills—both written and verbal—with the ability to adapt tone for different audiences.
