The Arc of Riverside County is a nonprofit organization that was established in 1953 to serve individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). We are a state funded service provider offering community integrated day programs for adults with IDD. The communications manager is an important part of our leadership team. We are seeking an individual who is a self-starter, energetic, and honest. Someone resourceful, with strong design and organizational skills, who is able to work well with others. This challenging position will carry out basic marketing tasks, community outreach activities, and fund development for our agency. Some activities may include fundraising, grant writing, press releases and newsletters—primarily in digital format, social media management, donor database management, and assistance with special events and public advocacy. This person will work directly with the Chief Executive Officer of our agency.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Degree in the area of communications or journalism (or similar field) is highly preferred. At least two years of working experience in one of these fields, including grant writing and fund development.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Produces most of the marketing materials for our agency.
· Speaks on behalf of the agency to target audiences such as service clubs, civic organizations and others.
· Attend community meetings and events on behalf of our agency.
· Grant writing. Applying for grants and managing both new and existing grants.
· Take part in the planning of special events and leads fundraising activities. Responsible for meeting the goals outlined in the agency’s fundraising plan.
· Contribute to advocacy projects associated with our mission.
· Social media management.
· Oversee the design and content of the agency newsletter.
· Conducts other tasks as directed by the CEO.
QUALIFICATIONS/JOB REQUIREMENTS
· Must be organized, able to multi-task and meet deadlines, and function in a busy environment.
· Must have/demonstrate strong interpersonal, communication, and writing skills.
· Must present a positive attitude.
· Computer literacy to include working knowledge of the following or in some cases a demonstrable ability to learn them quickly; Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, e-mail marketing, grant writing and grant search engines, basic graphic design skills, and knowledge of social media networks.
· Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups in the community.
· Must have a valid driver’s license, a good driving record, and must clear (and maintain) a criminal background check.
This is a full-time, exempt position, M-F 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Work Location:
Hybrid-primarily remote, with the expectation of in-person attendance as needed.
