Communications Manager

Oversees and operates Communications Team: Marketing Associate, Communications Associate, Social Media Specialist, Video Production, Disseminates info to AVWorks Closely with: Leadership Team, Ministry Leads and Design Teams
In person commitment: This job requires in person/on campus work at minimum for half of the work hours which will include Tuesdays and Sunday AMs.
General Summary:
The Communications Manager is a non-pastoral leadership role responsible for leading The Well’s communications strategy across all internal and external platforms. This role shapes and maintains a distinct, consistent, and mission-aligned voice that supports organizational vision, strengthens church culture, and drives engagement across church-wide initiatives. This position also provides strategic and creative leadership to the Communications/Media Team, overseeing campaign development, messaging systems, and content execution across all channels.
Areas of Responsibility & Oversight: Communications Strategy (Internal & External Messaging)

- Media Production (Video Content, Storytelling, and Promotional Content)
- Sunday Service Communications (AV, messaging alignment, and in-service media execution)
- Visual Identity & Graphic Design Oversight (Brand consistency and creative standards)
- Church-Wide Marketing, Promotion, and Campaign Execution
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and execution of church-wide communications strategy across all platforms, ensuring alignment with organizational vision, values, and ministry priorities
- Conceptualize, plan, and oversee major campaign initiatives (including sermon series, vision initiatives, and church-wide movements) from ideation through execution
- Translate leadership vision and organizational goals into clear, compelling messaging frameworks and communication plans
- Develop campaign narratives, naming concepts, and strategic messaging direction for church-wide initiatives
- Ensure consistent storytelling and messaging across all ministries, platforms, and communication channels
- Manage and direct a multidisciplinary Communications Team, including graphic design, social media, web, video, and technical staff
- Assign projects, set priorities, and oversee workflow management to ensure timely execution of all communications deliverables
- Provide creative direction, feedback, and final approval for all design, video, and digital content produced by the communications team
- Develop team structure, systems, and processes to improve efficiency, collaboration, and output quality
- Mentor and develop team members in communication strategy, branding, and content execution
- Design and maintain content marketing calendars and communication schedules across all platforms (email, social media, website, print, and in-service communication)
- Oversee weekly church-wide email communications, including announcement strategy, content development, and distribution
- Manage and approve all social media strategy, content, and posting schedules across platforms, ensuring alignment with campaign and ministry priorities
- Oversee website content strategy and updates across all ministries, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and alignment with current initiatives
- Oversee and enforce brand identity standards across all ministries, ensuring consistent application of visual identity, messaging, and tone
- Manage and approve all design and production of church-wide print and digital materials (including banners, mailers, signage, and promotional assets)
- Coordinate media needs for Sunday services and major church-wide events
- Collaborate with production and creative teams to ensure high-quality content delivery across platforms
- Serve as a key communications advisor to senior leadership, providing guidance on messaging strategy, campaign direction, and organizational communication priorities
- Collaborate with executive and ministry leaders to develop communication plans for new initiatives and church-wide priorities
- Participate in strategic planning discussions to ensure alignment between organizational goals and communication execution
- Advise leadership on audience engagement, messaging clarity, and communication effectiveness
- Oversee weekly worship service communications, ensuring alignment of announcements, visuals, and messaging across Sunday experiences
- Coordinate communication efforts across departments to ensure clarity, alignment, and consistency
- Act as central communication hub between ministries, leadership, and creative teams
- Plan and participate in meetings and events. Attend weekly staff meetings (Tuesdays 10a-12p) and Comms Team meetings (9am-10am Tuesdays)
- Oversee & manage weekly Worship Service content and communication for Sunday mornings
Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s in Communication, Marketing, or Project Management or commensurate experience
Knowledge and Skills
- Articulate and have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven leadership and team management experience in a communications, creative, or marketing environment
- Strong project management skills with ability to plan, delegate, prioritize, and execute multiple concurrent initiatives to completion
- Ability to translate vision and direction into clear communication strategies and actionable plans
- Ability to listen and communicate with people of all ages and personalities, and work well with leaders of ministry groups
- Ability to train, equip, and develop team members and volunteers in communications and creative execution
- Strong attention to detail, organization and systems-thinking abilities
- Keen eye of good and bad design
- Able to provide thoughtful and important feedback about how to optimize website and social media accounts
- Knowledge of traditional and digital marketing
- Proficiency in modern communication tools and platforms (e.g., Canva, Mailchimp, Editor, GLOO, CCB, social media management tools, etc.)
- Creative leadership and autonomous worker
- Desire and ability to use your gifts and creativity to serve staff and ministry leads in effectively promoting churchwide and ministry events and operations
- Vision-oriented leader who proactively identifies opportunities, improves systems, and drives initiatives from concept to completion
