Position Summary
The Communications & Marketing Coordinator is responsible for developing, executing, and managing a cohesive communications strategy that clearly and creatively communicates the mission, values, and events of FUMC Waynesville and its various ministries to the congregation and the surrounding community.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategy & Branding: Develop and implement a comprehensive communication plan. Maintain consistent branding across all digital and print platforms.
- Assess and Respond: Conduct periodic assessments and/or surveys to gauge effectiveness of communication strategies and adapt as necessary.
- Digital Media & Web: Manage the church website, ensuring content is current, engaging, and mobile-friendly.
- Social Media: Oversee all social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, etc.), creating content that encourages engagement and community outreach.
- Content Creation: Produce weekly, monthly, and special-event materials, including digital newsletters, press releases, promotional graphics, calendars, booklets. etc.
- Ministry Support: Collaborate with staff and ministry leaders to support their communication needs for events and initiatives.
- Storytelling: Capture and share stories of ministry impact and life change through photo, video, and writing.
- Audio/Visual Support: Support Sunday services and special events with media needs, including live-streaming, as needed.
- Streamline Internal Communication: Facilitate effective staff-to-staff communication, including file-saving protocols
- Engagement with Programs/Ministries/Events: Be present periodically for various programs, ministries, and events to maintain comprehensive understanding of operations. Interact positively with participants, staff, and congregation/community members.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, or a related field preferred, or 3-5 years equivalent experience.
- Proficiency in graphic design software (e.g., Adobe InDesign, Photoshop) and content management systems.
- Experience with social media management, email marketing, and video production.
- A servant’s heart with a commitment to the mission of the United Methodist Church.

Pay: $35,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
