Position Profile

The Communications, Marketing & Grants Manager (CMGM) is a part-time (3 days/week), position that manages AYC’s digital communications, marketing, storytelling, and non-Colorado grant portfolio under the supervision of the Executive Director. This role builds and oversees the systems that support donor cultivation, event promotion, and national fundraising strategies. The CMGM collaborates closely with the Development & Community Engagement Manager (DCEM) to ensure consistent messaging, branding, and fundraising alignment.

The Communications, Marketing & Grants manager will possess the experience and skills necessary to co-design, lead, and continuously improve an innovative business development strategy complemented by the storytelling critical to securing investment. The AYC origin and its offerings for youth ages 9-18 / grades 4 through 12 require an elevated brand voice that is youthful and vibrant while also remaining sophisticated for an adult philanthropic audience.

The candidate will demonstrate the ability to strengthen colleagues in a collaborative manner and maintain an organizational culture that values innovation, ownership, accountability, and excellence. The AYC Communications, Marketing and Grants Manager Exhibits:

AYC Communications, Marketing and Grants Manager Expectations:

  • Manage AYC’s communications platforms including website, email newsletters, social media, and appeals.
  • Research, write, and manage national/non-Colorado grant opportunities.
  • Manage grant calendar, prospects and track all grant data through GrantFlow Portal
  • Review and edit as needed all outgoing grants in collaboration with ED.
  • Provide grant reporting and compliance documentation for awarded funds.
  • Collaborate with DCEM to produce donor-facing materials for events and campaigns.
  • Ensure timely donor acknowledgment and communication through digital channels.
  • Create and distribute annual reports, appeals, and other storytelling assets.
  • Provide continued analysis of AYC fundraising performance and leverage the strengths of the Development Committee to garner new supporters.
  • Maintain accurate donor records through CRM and provide reporting to the Executive Director and Board.
  • Ability to travel to Aspen CO as needed.

AYC Communications, Marketing and Grants Manager Responsibilities:

  • Support overall revenue strategy through alignment with AYC’s development committee.
  • Lead content creation for newsletters, social media, and web updates by developing and advancing an innovative brand voice and narrative for the AYC that elevates its impact and clearly communicates the opportunities for its audience.
  • Develop marketing campaigns that align with fundraising goals and event promotion.
  • Partner with CMGM to deploy seasonal, quality fundraising appeals with fidelity.
  • Support brand consistency across all AYC communications and materials.
  • Maintain CRM data accuracy and generate donor reports.
  • Provide accurate and timely analysis around revenue development and donor cultivation that supports executive decision-making around philanthropy. This may be supported by the donor CRM accuracy maintained in partnership with the CMGM and Operations and Program Coordinator.
  • Steward and manage the AYC’s National/non-Colorado grant application opportunities.

AYC Communications, Marketing and Grants Manager Qualifications

  • Experience in marketing, communications, or digital media.
  • Strong writing and storytelling ability for donor and philanthropic audiences.
  • Proficiency with CRM, email marketing, and social scheduling tools.
  • Demonstrated grant research, writing, and management experience.
  • Organized, creative, and flexible with the ability to manage multiple projects remotely.
  • Passion for youth development and nonprofit mission-driven work.
