Communications & Marketing Manager

For 125 years, Methodist Home for Children has helped children and families across North Carolina build healthy, self-sufficient lives. What began as an orphanage in Raleigh has grown into a statewide network of foster homes, group homes, crisis and assessment centers, family preservation services, and early childhood programs.

We’re looking for a creative storyteller and strategic communicator to help share our mission and the impact of our work.

The Role

The Communications & Marketing Manager helps shape and share the story of Methodist Home for Children. Working closely with the Director of Communications, this role creates engaging content that raises awareness, strengthens our brand, and inspires donors, partners, and the community to support our mission.

Because we’re a small, collaborative team, this role offers wide autonomy, creative ownership, and the chance to make a meaningful impact.

What You’ll Do

  • Create compelling content for print, digital, and social media
  • Help produce key publications including our Spotlight magazine, annual report, and e-newsletters
  • Manage and grow social media channels (Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram)
  • Support fundraising communications, including appeals and campaigns like Pay It Forward
  • Develop marketing assets such as ads, fliers, and short videos
  • Maintain consistent voice, messaging, and visual brand identity
  • Coordinate with vendors (photographers, designers, printers) as needed
  • Partner with program staff, donors, and community partners to capture and share meaningful stories

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, or related field
  • 5+ years of communications experience in a nonprofit, university, or government setting
  • Exceptional writing and storytelling skills
  • Experience with social media marketing and digital communications
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Experience with WordPress, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Photography and short video production experience preferred
  • Passion for mission-driven work that helps children and families

Additional Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record
  • Ability to attend occasional evening or weekend events
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment screenings
