Job description: The New Jersey Senate Democratic Office provides legal, policy and communications staff support to the Democratic members of the New Jersey State Senate.
Job Position: Communication Specialist/ Press Assistant
Salary: $45,000 per year
Workweek: 35 hours per week or more
Position Overview: The ideal candidate will have a passion for promoting the values of Democratic elected officials, interest in working in a fast-paced environment and enjoy writing for different audiences. We believe you must have at least one year of prior communications experience, and intern experience accepted. In this position, the candidate will be responsible for following New Jersey news and outlets, writing press releases and social media content, and coordinating interviews for senators. Additionally, we are searching for someone who will assist District Offices with press needs and maintain/update local media lists for legislative districts, as appropriate.
This is a great entry-level opportunity for anyone who wants to learn marketable communication skills, participate in the legislative process, and take on increased responsibilities.
