Overall Assignment Description:

The candidate will support internal and external communications initiatives within NGA for mission partners in the defense and intelligence communities. Develop written and visual communications products, support media and stakeholder engagement, manage digital communications channels, and assist with official visits, ceremonies, and outreach activities.

Support one or more focus areas including strategic communications, public affairs and media relations, or protocol and event coordination.

Duties:

  • Develop and produce a wide range of communications materials including talking points, speeches, news articles, newsletters, official memoranda, press materials, website content, and social media products.
  • Design and develop visual communications products such as infographics, publications, and presentations using Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop).
  • Provide editorial review and quality assurance for communications products to ensure accuracy, clarity, and adherence to organizational style guidelines and policy.
  • Develop and implement communications plans and campaigns supporting leadership priorities, workforce engagement initiatives, and mission-related programs.
  • Create and manage digital communications content across social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, and X (Twitter).
  • Monitor and analyze digital engagement metrics and audience feedback to assess communications effectiveness and recommend improvements.
  • Support media relations activities including drafting press materials, preparing leadership for media engagements, responding to inquiries, and tracking media coverage.
  • Conduct outreach and engagement with internal and external stakeholders including agency personnel, partner organizations, academic institutions, and industry partners.
  • Plan, coordinate, and support internal and external events such as town halls, training sessions, conferences, workshops, distinguished speaker programs, and outreach engagements.
  • Assist with the planning and execution of official visits, ceremonies, and special events by coordinating logistics, preparing itineraries and event documentation, and providing on-site event support.
  • Draft event-related materials including agendas, biographies, scene-setters, and sequence-of-events documentation.
  • Provide protocol support for leadership engagements and visits by distinguished guests, ensuring coordination and adherence to established protocol and diplomatic etiquette.
  • Conduct research and develop informational or historical content for communications products, digital platforms, or exhibits.
  • Provide communications support for time-sensitive or high-visibility initiatives and adapt quickly to emerging mission requirements.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • 5–14 years of professional experience in communications, public affairs, public relations, protocol, event coordination, or a related field.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Political Science, International Relations, Business, or a related field.
  • Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical or mission-related information into clear, accessible messaging.
  • Experience developing communications products for multiple platforms including digital media, internal communications, and leadership messaging.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience using Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) for visual communications products.
  • Experience supporting meetings, conferences, outreach events, or official visits requiring coordination with multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively to time-sensitive communications requirements.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships with leadership, internal teams, and external partners.
  • Experience supporting communications efforts within the federal government, defense community, or Intelligence Community.

Salary: $115k-$125k

Pay: $115,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
