Communications Technician - I

Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Communications Technician - I to join our team and help us deliver reliable, high-quality telecommunication and network solutions. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a wide range of communication systems and equipment. Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and troubleshoot network infrastructure including Ethernet, Cat5 and Cat6 cabling.
• Install and mount wireless access points
• Install and mount network switches
• Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals to accurately install and maintain communication systems.
• Perform cable management tasks including cabling for LAN (Local Area Network), telephony systems, and data centers using low voltage wiring standards compliant with NEC regulations.
• Utilize hand tools, power tools, ohmmeters, and other testing equipment to verify system integrity and troubleshoot electrical issues.
• Collaborate with customers to provide exceptional service by explaining technical details clearly and ensuring their needs are met efficiently.
• Assist in network installation projects involving telecommunication infrastructure upgrades or new system deployments.

Skills

• Ability to read schematics and technical diagrams accurately for installation and troubleshooting tasks.
• Hands-on experience with installing wireless access points
• Skilled in using hand tools like crimpers, wire strippers, screwdrivers along with power tools for cabling and equipment installation or repair.
• Electrical experience related to low voltage wiring standards and power distribution systems.
• Customer service skills that enable effective communication with clients during service calls or system setup.
• Service technician experience in telecommunications or IT environments is highly desirable. Pay: $33.64 - $36.50 per hour
