Communications Utility Worker- Groundman/Flagger

Pay: $20.53 - $28.66 per hour

Job Summary:

Responsible for providing general Labor assistance and support for fiber installation and construction of overhead and underground outside facilities.

Duties and responsibilities:

• Hand Lineman and Operators necessary tooling needed for work being done

• drive and operate vehicles

• keep work areas clean and organized

• cleanup and sort scrap and discard items

• keep unauthorized people away from work area

• stock trucks with material commonly used on a daily basis

• assist with washing trucks and maintaining equipment in proper working order use various hand tools

• assist with loading materials onto trucks and trailers

• perform any and all duties assigned by journeyman and supervisor

• Pull cable Lasher

• Manually rotate fiber reels for deployment

Overhead duties:

Employee will be in close proximity to work area in case of emergency, must verify proper grounding of equipment and material being placed, may be required to assist lineman in second bucket while working on lines, may be required to assist in the lineman roll and duties (part of training for future advancement), must know how to operate truck in emergency mode, must be knowledgeable with materials needed to splice and terminate

Underground duties:

Employee will assist with underground installation of conduit, hand holes, fiber pulling, site preparations and clean up of the work area. May be required to operate equipment from time to time (part of training for future advancement), may be required to assist with lead Operator by performing lead Operator rolls. pothole and verify existing underground utilities

Flagging Duties:

Employee will be required to set up and break down work zones that protect crews working and pedestrian traffic moving through using traffic warning devises. Will need to be assertive and confident in ability to manage vehicles safely around the work area. Have a clear understanding of how traffic moves and the necessary steps needed to be taken to control that traffic.

• be available for emergency and or scheduled work

• ability to perform duties for prolonged hours, sitting, standing, crouching, and stooping

• ability to push/pull and position tools, equipment and structural materials

• lift heavy loads

Specialized Training:

Osha 10,
