JOB TITLE: Communications/Events Manager

REPORTS TO: Town Manager

JOB SUMMARY: The Communications/Event Manager is responsible for the creation and implementation of marketing, communication, and graphics projects for Town public relations programs. The position requires creating both written and visual communications to be used across all the Town’s digital and print communications platforms and social media and manages communications projects to ensure an integrated communications approach. Also serves as events coordinator for town events. Work is performed independently, with review and supervision by the Town Manager.

Employees may also perform related work as required. • Acts as Town’s Public Information Officer by planning, developing, and implementing an effective public information program that informs and educates residents, community groups and other agencies on Town programs, events, services, educational campaigns, and policy decisions. • Develops and implements Town communication and marketing efforts, including but not limited to print and electronic newsletters, flyers, signage, brochures, direct mail pieces, email, web and social media content, graphics, online advertising, presentations, speeches, and appearances. • Supports Town departments in developing appropriate media responses and strategies and represents the Town as spokesperson in public information matters, including emergencies, disasters, and sensitive matters. Provides media training and advises department directors when faced with media opportunities or challenges. • Research and summarize complex information to effectively communicate and/or market projects and initiatives across multiple platforms. • Writes and develops content for all communications platforms that are high-quality, impactful, and in line with the Town’s messaging strategies and strategic plan. Edits copy provided from department to ensure alignment with the same. • Designs and lays-out publications such as fliers, posters, reports, and brochures in keeping with the Town’s messaging direction. • Manages the print preparation, print production, and distribution process for printed or promotional materials. • Develop and maintain broad knowledge base of the Town including organizational structure, programs, events, projects, policy, and strategic initiatives. Use knowledge base to think critically, problem solve and achieve project outcomes. • Creates engaging and sharable content (social, video, mobile apps) supporting the Town’s communications programs in line with processes, guidelines, and policies. • Provides overall digital media channel management for the Town, including content, technology, strategy, and maintenance. Provides recommendations on digital media strategies and technologies to pursue. • Ensures applicable and required ADA compliance of online and digital content. Town of Juno Beach 2 Revised 8/2025 • Develop responses to online and social media inquiries with accuracy, timeliness, and in line with the Town’s message. Utilizes digital channels proactively to distribute Town information in an effective way. • Maintains awareness and understanding of policy decisions, their impacts on the community, and community/area issues to inform and educate the public. Able to take that information and translate it into understandable, impactful communications, providing Town information accurately and proactively. • Manages and maintains the Town’s website, intranet, and social media sites, integrating the online portals for all electronic services to ensure compatibility with Town technology and online communication policies and guidelines. • Performs as town’s event coordinator who plans and develops Town-sponsored events and identifies opportunities for Town participation in and sponsorship of events. Responsible for the oversight of the Town’s event plan. Publishes and maintains Town-wide annual events calendar. • Receives and reviews all on-site and off-site special event applications, ensuring proper processing in accordance with established guidelines. • Photographs Town events. • Through day-to-day interactions and projects, exemplify the Town’s organizational values of customer service, effective communication, teamwork, engagement, innovation, and transparency. • Manages all published content to ensure accurate documentation and compliance with record-keeping standards.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: • Practical experience with computer graphics design (preferably in managing and directing creative projects). • Knowledge of the media industry with the ability to deal professionally with members of the media and local citizens on sensitive issues. • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and technical terminology. • Ability to establish collaborative working relationships with employees, residents, community groups and other agencies, outside vendors/contractors, the news media, and the public. • Must have excellent organizational, oral, and written communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with individuals both internal and external to the Town. • Firsthand knowledge of electronic communications, including web publishing, computerized newsletters, social media, and other online communications. • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including MS Publisher, and Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar software.

EDUCATION AND EXPIERENCE: The ideal candidate possesses the education and experience listed below. • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Relations, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Advertising, Graphic Design, or closely related field. Town of Juno Beach 3 Revised 8/2025 • Three (3) or more years of successful work experience and/or highly specialized or technical training in public relations, digital media, event planning or related field. • Experience working for a local government preferred. • Experience participating in and leading efforts to provide integrated communications or marketing plans. • Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver’s license.

The employee must exert or lift up to ten (10) pounds of force occasionally to move objects. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision. On occasion, duties may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as humidity, rain, temperature extremes, or bright/dim light.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $33.65 - $49.04 per hour
