Are you passionate about sustainability and making a difference in your community? Pierce Transit’s Community Development Team is looking for a detail-oriented, customer-focused professional to support the daily operations of our regional rideshare program.

In this role, you’ll play a key part in helping commuters connect through smart, sustainable ridesharing solutions. You’ll schedule and oversee group vehicle maintenance, support rideshare formation, monitor ridership utilization, and provide outstanding service to participants. Additionally, you’ll handle billing and reporting, assist with outreach and safety initiatives, and help ensure compliance with agency, state, and federal requirements.

All Pierce Transit employees are required to participate in the Washington State Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS). Pierce Transit offers two Public Employees Retirement System (PERS) plans to choose from, PERS2 and PERS3, as well as a matching program for 457 deferred compensation.

Employees are not covered under the Social Security System except for a 1.45% payment for Medicare.

Pierce Transit provides an ORCA Card benefit for each employee and a family member. This benefit provides free access to service on Pierce Transit, Sound Transit, Community Transit, Everett Transit, King County Metro, Kitsap Transit, Seattle Monorail, Seattle Streetcar, King County Water Taxi and Kitsap Foot Ferry.

PAID LEAVE:
Full-time Pierce Transit employees receive 11 paid holidays, 2 personal paid holidays, 6 days of major sick leave, 22 days of paid time off (PTO) per year, and the ability to earn up to 2 Wellness Days by participating in a qualifying wellness activity and the annual survey. PTO accrual rates increase per policy.

If you're not currently living in the Lakewood-area, that's not a problem! We may be able to help with reimbursing up to $2,500 in moving expenses for those who physically relocate their primary residence to the Pierce/King/Thurston County area (substantiated with receipts). Essential Functions

The following functions are not intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed in this classification, only a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.


  • Organizes, coordinates and administers the rideshare program.
  • Trains, supervises and evaluates the performance of volunteer rideshare drivers and bookkeepers.
  • Provides support, assistance and counseling to rideshare participants.
  • Relieves drivers and bookkeepers of assignments as appropriate.
  • Investigates and responds in a timely manner, both orally and in writing, to rideshare participant concerns, suggestions and equipment issues; if necessary, consults with Rideshare management to determine most appropriate action.
  • Makes assessments and recommendations regarding day-to-day rideshare operations and participant involvement; investigates and responds to customer comments, complaints, and issues, as needed.
  • Collects appropriate revenue; authorizes and reconciles expenses; acts as first line for collecting bad debts.
  • Assists in planning, developing, and implementing employer transportation programs.
  • Represents Pierce Transit at Wellness Fairs, Transportation Fairs, and other specialty events. Advocates Pierce Transit’s rideshare program and the benefits the program provides.
  • Creates, develops, and administers various marketing and promotional materials.
  • Generates requisitions and purchase orders. Researches and obtains quotes/bids from vendors.
  • Displays regular and consistent attendance.
  • Performs related work as required.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Associate degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field, and
  • Two (2) years of customer service and/or sales experience.
  • Experience may be substituted for education on a year for year basis.
Desired:
  • Public sector experience desired.
Licensing, certifications, and other legal requirements:
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Washington State driver license with acceptable driving record throughout employment.
  • Individuals must pass a background check.

Physical Requirements:
The position involves light physical demands and may occasionally need to move boxes from 5 to 40 pounds. Must be able to travel to business sites and community events.
