Position Title: Community Engagement Fellow

This role operates under a hybrid work model, with 25–50% of work performed onsite in office.

PROGRAM SUMMARY:
The National LGBTQ Institute on Intimate Partner Violence was created to significantly enhance the safety, well-being, support, and health of LGBTQ intimate partner violence (IPV) and domestic violence survivors throughout the United States. Utilizing ongoing input from providers, experts, and consumers, the Institute offers state-of-the-art training and technical assistance that significantly expands the capacity of public and private agencies to provide culturally relevant, survivor-centered LGBTQ IPV intervention and prevention services. The program also works to enhance the visibility of LGBTQ-specific IPV needs and intervention strategies, while conducting research to identify and disseminate evidence-informed interventions and overseeing policy initiatives that have a meaningful impact on the quality, scope, and accessibility of LGBTQ IPV services nationwide.
INTERNSHIP SUMMARY:
The Community Engagement Intern will be responsible for assisting in daily operations and managing the National LGBTQ Institute on Intimate Partner Violence’s (Institute) social media content, reaching community through a variety of outlets, and finding new engagement streams. This position will be responsible for planning, creating, scheduling, and posting content. The Community Engagement Intern directly reports to the Training Coordinator.

As a result of working as the Community Engagement Intern, the student will have the opportunity to acquire experience in a social service career, specifically within the domestic violence and LGBTQ+ advocacy fields, as well as complete a 40-hour Domestic Violence Advocate certification. Additionally, the student will further develop their communication skills, time management, attention to detail, and adaptability.
