Position Summary

The Community Food Market Assistant Manager leads the operational systems that ensure a well-stocked, organized, and efficiently flowing market environment. This role is responsible for inventory management, procurement, logistics, and back-of-house coordination, ensuring food moves safely and effectively in a busy, fast-paced environment. Works in tandem with/in support of the Food Market Manager to ensure operational readiness.


Compensation

$25 per hour, $52,000 annually, plus comprehensive benefits, including health, vision, dental, and retirement.


Reports To

Community Food Market Manager


Key Responsibilities

  • Inventory & Product Flow:
    Maintain accurate inventory, including tracking, rotation, and restocking
  • Procurement & Ordering: Place orders based on demand, budget, and available supply
  • Receiving & Warehouse: Oversee deliveries, organize stock, and maintain backstock areas
  • Daily Operations: Keep the market organized and running efficiently throughout the day
  • Volunteer Support: Provide clear direction and maintain workflow during busy periods
  • Compliance & Safety: Follow food safety, storage, and documentation standards

Required Skills & Attributes

  • Strong systems thinking and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Comfortable handling multiple tasks at once and balancing shifting priorities
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Flexible and dependable with good problem-solving skills
  • Proactive and self-motivated

Education & Experience

Experience in logistics, inventory, warehouse, or retail/food systems preferred.


Physical Requirements

Ability to lift 50 lbs, stand, bend, and work in cooler/freezer environments.


Work Environment/Schedule

Busy, active environment; primarily daytime schedule with occasional flexibility.
