The Department of Community Engagement is accepting applications for the Community Media Specialist position.
Craft compelling stories and manage an online presence for efforts related to the Gateways to a Greener Jackson (GGJ) project.
Oversee and execute the project's social media strategy across platforms (e.g. Facebook, X, Instagram, YouTube, etc.)
Create, edit and publish written stories and multimedia content (text, images, video) for use in newsletters, social media, digital platforms, and the West JXN blog.
Collaborate with faculty, staff, students, and community members to develop feature stories, announcements, spotlights, and highlights for GGJ initiatives and events.
Attend and provide media coverage for GGJ events and related activities.
Bachelor's degree in media studies, communications, journalism, public relations, graphic design or related field.
Proficiency in web content management systems (e.g., WordPress, Drupal) and social media management tools.
Strong photography and videography skills, including editing (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or Final Cut Pro).
Excellent writing, editing, proof reading skills.
Website development and maintenance.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a community-centric environment.
