JOB
Performs enforcement of specific municipal ordinance infractions, supports sworn police officers on calls for service, and provides traffic control. Conducts public service tasks, assists with administrative functions, and contributes to overall departmental operations.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.Regular attendance that is punctual and dependable is required.Code Enforcement & InvestigationsInvestigate potential code violations by identifying and responding to complaints; make inspections of residential, business, commercial, and public property; issue instructions for correction of the problem; maintain logs and records related to the inspections and enforcement activity; consult with prosecutors and prepare case reports for court action; and testify in
court.Work with Legal, Planning, Building, Health and Public Works departments in providing assistance as needed for resolving other city code violations.Parking & Vehicle EnforcementInvestigate parking, abandoned vehicles, found property and complaints.Investigate parking violations, issue parking violation citations, process vehicles and arrange towing of vehicles for parking or abandoned vehicle violations.Assist with police impound activities, including the receipt, inventory, and release of impounded vehicles.Prepare reports, and documents related to vehicle towing, recovered property and other incidents.Animal ControlEnforce city codes dealing with animals; capture and impound stray animals.Public Service & SupportDirect traffic; transport department vehicles for maintenance; transport items for mailing or shipping.Assist officers at criminal and traffic calls for services; place vehicles in and release vehicles from the Department's impound lot.Take minor criminal and non-criminal complaints and prepare reports as directed.Provide general assistance to motorists and citizens; conduct traffic surveys.Make local purchases of items for the department; wait on citizens at the service counter or telephone.Transport, deploy, secure and retrieve speed measuring device(s).Prepare items for auction.OtherPerform related duties as assigned.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Any combination of experience and training equivalent to graduation from high school.License or Certification: Employee must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain insurability as determined by the City’s insurance carrier. Click here to view our driver eligibility requirements.Working Hours: Approximately 17 hours per week including day, evening and weekend hoursSalary: Position will start at the entry level of the City's salary table. Consideration may be given if experience exceeds entry level qualifications. Other: Candidates will be subject to a background check.
