Companion/Driver/Personal Assistant for Neurodivergent Adult with Brain Injury

Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and organized Driver/Personal Assistant/Caregiver to provide ongoing support to a neurodivergent adult with a brain injury. This role primarily involves driving the client to and from various appointments and locations. Additionally, providing emotional support and assisting with daily living activities, personal organization, and establishing a structured routine for the client. The ideal candidate will be patient, empathetic, and able to adapt to the client's sensory sensitivities and communication needs.

This would be a great position for a student currently enrolled in a nursing, social work, or counseling/psychotherapy program; or in a speech- or occupational-therapy program with emphasis on neurological conditions.

Responsibilities

1) Driving: Top Priority

Client's personal vehicle will be provided while driving the client to and from locations.

2) Running Errands:

Run errands with the client and support them as a companion while helping them follow through with task completion.

3) Appointment Management:

Help schedule and manage appointments, including medical, mental-health, and social.

4) Communication:

Act as a liaison between the client and their medical/support team, ensuring clear and effective communication of medical and logistical information.

5) Structure and Organization:

Collaborate with the client to create and maintain a structured daily routine, providing support in organizing and planning.

6) Assist and support client with emotional support when needed

Qualifications

●Experience working with individuals that are neurodivergent, have had brain injuries, or have similar needs is highly preferred.

● Ability to drive client to and from various locations and appointments throughout the entire shift

● Strong organizational skills and the ability to create and maintain structured routines are

important.

● Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills are important.

● Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.

● Flexibility and adaptability in managing various tasks and supporting the client’s specific

Needs.

Valid California driver’s license and car insurance is required.

Additional Information:

We are looking for the following shifts:

Monday’s: 2:30-7:30 PM

Wednesday’s: 12-4 PM (or later)

The position may require flexibility in hours and responsibilities based on the client’s evolving needs.

A background check and relevant references will be required.

Pay: $27.00 - $30.00 per hour
