The Completions Designer is responsible for the design, layout, and documentation of aircraft completion and modification projects, including cabin interiors, monuments, and systems integration. This position supports MRO and refurbishment programs from concept through certification, ensuring designs meet customer expectations, engineering requirements, and FAA regulatory standards.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and revise 2D drawings and 3D models for aircraft completion and modification projects, including cabinetry, seating, monuments, panels, and systems interfaces.
  • Prepare and maintain interior installation packages, including layout drawings, detail drawings, material callouts, and interface documentation.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Certification, and Production to ensure design integrity, manufacturability, and compliance with applicable regulatory requirements (FAA, EASA, etc.).
  • Participate in customer design reviews to interpret requirements and translate them into functional, certifiable designs.
  • Coordinate with furnishings, structures, and electrical teams to ensure proper integration of systems and components.
  • Support production and installation by responding to design questions, updating drawings, and resolving issues during build.
  • Maintain accurate drawing records and revision control in accordance with company configuration management procedures.
  • Provide design input for project estimates, material selection, and schedule planning.
  • Ensure all assigned work adheres to company standards for quality, accuracy, and documentation.

Education and Experience

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Mechanical Design, Aerospace Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in aircraft completions, modifications, or refurbishment (MRO or OEM environment).
  • Working knowledge of FAA Part 25, Part 145, and relevant industry standards for aircraft interiors.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, CATIA, SolidWorks, or similar CAD software required.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong technical drawing and 3D modeling skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of photo shop
  • Strong experience with CAD
  • Knowledge of aircraft interior components, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and design accuracy.
  • Effective communication and teamwork across engineering, production, and customer-facing teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced MRO environment.
  • Problem-solving mindset with a practical approach to design challenges.

Working Conditions

  • Primarily office-based with regular time spent in the hangar or shop to support active projects.
  • May require occasional travel to customer sites, suppliers, or off-site aircraft.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl. Frequent periods of walking, sitting, rotation, bending, pushing, pulling, and reaching.

Frequent lifting up to 50 lbs, and occasional lifting up to and over 100 lbs.

Work Environment:

Frequent exposure to general shop conditions.

Frequent exposure to airborne particles and small enclosed areas i.e. small aircraft interiors.

Occasional exposure to seasonal weather.
