Compliance Administrative Assistant

Position Summary:

We are looking for a detail-oriented, reliable Compliance Administrative Assistant with a legal background to support our Legal and Compliance teams in a mortgage company setting. This position may be full-time or part-time, depending on experience and availability. The right candidate must be able to read and interpret legal and regulatory materials, work independently, and manage tasks in a fast-paced environment. Prior experience in a legal or mortgage compliance setting is strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review legal and regulatory documents; summarize key points for internal use
  • Support the drafting and updating of compliance policies and procedures
  • Track licensing deadlines and regulatory filings
  • Assist with preparation for audits, internal reviews, and regulatory inquiries
  • Maintain organized files for legal and compliance documents
  • Coordinate communications between compliance, legal, and other internal departments
  • Conduct initial legal or compliance research as needed
  • Monitor updates to federal and state mortgage regulations and summarize relevant changes

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Legal Studies, Business, or a related field
  • 1–3 years of experience in a legal assistant, paralegal, or compliance administrative role
  • Strong reading comprehension and ability to interpret legal language
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • High level of professionalism and discretion when working with confidential information

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Paralegal certification or similar legal training
  • Familiarity with mortgage industry regulations (e.g., RESPA, TILA, TRID, HMDA)
  • Experience working with compliance tracking systems or loan platforms
