Compliance and Contract Manager (Kansas City, MO)

The Compliance and Contract Manager is a key professional responsible for the end-to-end contract lifecycle, with a particular emphasis on ensuring strict adherence to all contractual terms, legal requirements, and internal policies. This role is critical in mitigating risk, maintaining legal and regulatory compliance, and protecting the company's interests in all contractual relationships.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Compliance Monitoring and Auditing
    • Develop and implement a robust contract compliance program to monitor the fulfillment of contractual obligations by both the company and external parties
    • Track and manage key compliance milestones, such as reporting deadlines, payment schedules, and renewal/expiration dates.
  • Risk Management and Policy Development
    • Develop, update, and enforce internal contract policies and procedures to ensure consistency and compliance across the organization
    • Manage JSOX process and collaborate with internal departments on any necessary updates due to changes in relevant laws, regulations, or industry standards.
    • Assist with preparation and coordination of responses for audits, litigation, or internal investigations.
  • Contract Review/Negotiation and Drafting
    • Conduct in-depth reviews of all contracts, including agreements with vendors, clients, partners, and other third parties
    • Analyze contract terms for legal, financial, and operational risks, ensuring they align with organizational goals and standards.
    • Support the contract lifecycle, including document tracking, version control, and execution processes.
    • Liaise with outside council, regulatory agencies, and internal departments as needed.
    • Assist in contract negotiations, focusing on securing terms that are not only financially favorable but also legally sound and easy to monitor for compliance.

    • Assist with preparation and coordination of responses for audits, litigation, or internal investigations.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Legal Studies, Business, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in contract management, legal operations, or compliance-focused role

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Strong working knowledge of legal terminology, principles, and documentation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal management systems (e.g.DocuSign).
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information.
