Compliance Officer – UAE


A leading global investment management firm is establishing a new entity in the UAE regulated by the UAE Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA) , creating the need for a registered Compliance Officer & MLRO


This role offers the opportunity to support the development of the firm’s presence across the GCC, collaborate closely with international teams and contribute to shaping the firm’s local regulatory framework and governance standards


The role sits within the broader EMEA Compliance function, which specialises in multi-jurisdictional regulatory compliance with a particular focus on asset and investment management. You will work with experienced regulatory professionals across the region and be involved in strategic initiatives involving the UAE, DIFC, and wider Middle East operations


This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic, proactive compliance professional with strong knowledge of SCA and DFSA regulations , particularly within the asset management or broader financial services sector


How You Will Add Value


Core Responsibilities

  • Fulfil the mandated responsibilities of Compliance Officer, MLRO and Risk Officer for the UAE entity.
  • Maintain a strong compliance framework aligned with local regulatory requirements and market best practice.
  • Advise senior management and business teams on relevant laws, regulations, and compliance standards.
  • Identify, assess, and monitor compliance risks across business activities.
  • Develop and deliver compliance and financial crime training; coordinate with HR, Legal and Risk teams.
  • Draft, review, and maintain compliance and risk policies, manuals, and procedures.


Strategic Responsibilities

  • Provide compliance input into new products, processes, and business initiatives.
  • Support the establishment of new client relationships and market expansion activities.
  • Implement and report on risk monitoring programmes.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with regulators, local industry bodies, and compliance peers.
  • Act as a regional subject-matter expert on UAE and DIFC compliance requirements.


What Will Help You Succeed in This Role


Experience, Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant professional experience.
  • Proven experience in financial services compliance, ideally within the UAE or GCC.
  • SCA accreditations in UAE Financial Rules and Financial Crime (mandatory or the willingness to obtain).
  • Previous experience with DFSA-regulated environments (DIFC) is advantageous.


Technical & Soft Skills

  • Strong knowledge of SCA and DFSA regulatory frameworks .
  • Understanding of investment or asset management business models.
  • Confident presenting to stakeholders, regulators, and internal committees.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and judgement capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborative team player with strong communication skills.
  • Fluent in English; Arabic language skills are an advantage .
